[Prologue]
~~~
Princess Silkrouter and her brother, Prince Silkdice, were both born to the seventh Queen Silkmoth of the Silk House of the Windswept Plateau. The two of them grew up alongside each other, not quite always getting along. Although they cared for one another, they simply had different ways of going about their goals; many of which were opposing. While Prince Silkdice preferred to strategize and overprepare, Princess Silkrouter truly thrived when thrown directly into a wild situation with no guidance. Prince Silkdice was focused on the family, while the Princess yearned for greater things. The two of them were considered to be the royal lineage of the clan, and Prince Silkdice was expected to become the next King once Queen Silkmoth's reign ended.
A sudden and bloody coup led by the mysterious Chief Warmaster Magmicvulcan, resulted in the Silk House being ousted by the Magmic House. Queen Silkmoth was murdered and the young Magmicvulcan was installed as the clan's new queen; integrating it into the greater Vulcan Empire. As such, the lineage of the Silk House were forced to flee their homelands and make new lives for themselves elsewhere...
[Genesis Era]
~~~
Being born with the natural element of Lightning, Princess Silkrouter traveled to the Highland Scrub of the Shifting Expanse to begin marking territory for her new clan; remembering what her mother told her about sleeping giants lying beneath the ground. Her new clan's immediate goal was to spread their influence across the Shifting Expanse, gathering enough strength to rival Magmic House. It was there in the Highland Scrub that she met Guapostrider, a dragon whom she would quickly fall in-love with. The two of them sired children, beginning the lineage of the newly-formed Router House of the Shifting Expanse. Guapostrider became deeply loyal to Princess Silkrouter, and promised to follow her no matter where she led him. She appreciated his loyalty, and gave hers in-turn. Their new union would serve as the foundation for the clan's imperial ambitions. While she wanted to help her brother and his resistance movement, Princess Silkrouter believed that expanding her own power would be in both of their best interests... Shortly after becoming anointed as the First Queen to the Router Throne (alongside Guapostrider as the First King), her first three children were hatched: Prince Guaporouter, Prince Guapospool, and Prince Guaposilver. Prince Guaposilver was easily the favored child, and was thought to be one to become the next heir. However, it was Prince Guaporouter who was eventually designated as the First Heir to the Router Throne; coming into his own maturity with the help of his father. Prince Guaposilver was made the Second Heir to the Router Throne, and Prince Guapospool was sent off to a clan in the Driftwood Drag of the Tangled Wood to be wed as part of a diplomatic agreement with Critter, the Witch Queen. This union was the first stage of a strategic expansion of the clan. Queen Silkrouter believed that with a strong and loyal family surrounding her, she could easily amass an army to invade the Windswept Plateau and take back their homelands. Having convinced Prince Silkdice of this, he worked to help her gather the supplies she needed to make it all possible. |

[Expansionist Era]
~~~
Using newly her amassed resources, Queen Silkrouter requisitioned several dragons and hatchlings from across the land to help build her Routic Imperium (the new name for her clan). SunburnedOpal was the first hatchling to be adopted, expanding the clan's horizons with his forgotten faith. Prince Guaporouter was arranged to become wed to the newly anointed Princess Lapis, and the diplomatic Starcatcher was to become Queen Silkrouter's First Consort. Additionally, Queen Silkrouter employed the enigmatic Mosspelt as the clan's first Chief Warmaster; designating all of the future invasion plans to her. Chief Warmaster Mosspelt had proven herself to be a powerful ally that the Queen could trust. With time, Chief Warmaster Mosspelt rallied her peers to petition the King and Queen to form the clan's first new house: House Abyssal of the Shifting Expanse. Having much respect for the Warmaster, Queen Silkrouter approved the petition. This decision was extended to SunburnedOpal, allowing him to form House Opal of the Shifting Expanse. Albeit fearing the possibility of rival houses threatening her authority, she knew that suppressing them would lead to a much worse outcome. Shortly after this great expansion and the start of two new breeding projects (with great involvement from House Abyssal), Queen Silkrouter was able to have the Routic Imperium requisitioned near The Source of the Shifting Expanse. With this move, the growing power of House Router officially became cemented within the Expanse. However, a royal conflict was beginning to brew. Consort Starcatcher had begun negotiating with Queen Silkrouter to give his future children a chance to prove themselves as worthy heirs to the throne. Intrigued by the proposal, Queen Silkrouter agreed to not let Prince Guaporouter and Princess Lapis immediately ascend the throne following their marriage; angering the two of them. Although Queen Silkrouter did not believe that Consort Starcatcher's children would surpass Prince Guaporouter and his mate, the conflict gave her an excuse to remain on the throne for a longer period of time; with several secret projects yet to be completed... |
Once House Abyssal's eggs were hatched, the time came for Queen Silkrouter and Consort Starcatcher to sire children of their own. Together, they hatched two new heirs to the royal family: Prince Starrouter I, and Prince Starfern I. The Queen was quickly impressed with the two of them from birth, but knew already that she would not be placing them directly at the front of the line of succession as Starcatcher had suggested. This desicion was compounded by a confrontation from King Guapostrider, himself. He explained that her line of thinking, the way that she saw other people as political pawns, was concerning to him. The King argued that Prince Guaporouter had earned the right to be the next King, and that it should remain that way. He was worried that she was prioritizing power over the people in her life, and did not want it driving them away from it as had done to him. Seeing the emotion in his eyes, the Queen held him close and promised that she try her hardest to balance the two. Rubbing her head against his, she revealed to him that she could tell there was another woman in his life. Albeit saddened, she cared about King Guapostrider and wanted him to be happy. The Queen promised that she would soon allow their children to ascend the throne, and that once they were no longer ruling alongside each other he would be able to pursue his forbidden love; understanding that if she truly loved him she would set him free. The King cried in her arms and told her that he shall always love her as-well, and was grateful to have met her. Detached from her relationship with the King, Queen Silkrouter buried herself in her work. Focusing all of her efforts into Project EDEN, she worked with Psionic Mage Canyondust to develop an experimental method of resurrecting Adalyl the First in a controlled setting. The two planned to establish a mind-link between the ancient dragon and Subject C-001 Canyonpelt. Queen Silkrouter theorized that if Canyonpelt (an Abberation whose genes would be closest to Adalyl the First's) let Adalyl's spirit into his mind, he would be able to use it as a backdoor into the ancient dragon's mind/soul. While this threatened to forfeit the Subject C-001's body to Adalyl, if done successfully the body of the ancient dragon could be resurrected under the control of Canyonpelt. |
When Consort Starcatcher came to confront her about the new pair of heirs, the Queen confirmed his fears: she was merely entertaining his request for political purposes and did not intend to prioritize his children over her eldest children. As a result, the Consort drew inwards-- hiding away in his chambers for days at a time. Although he did not see his sons, Queen Silkrouter dedicated a good deal of time to raising and educating the two new princes. Having realized she had not been a particularly mother-like figure for her eldest three, Queen Silkrouter did her best to be there for the hatchlings she had brought into this world. Her conversation with King Guapostrider kept replaying in her head; reminding her that these kids were more than just political pawns. She had messed up once, but wanted to be sure that this time she would not make the same mistake. Consequently, the Prince Starrouter and Prince Starfern loved their mother dearly and swore to stay by her side. Raising them to be kind and respectful, the two brothers soon blossomed into Princes of great generosity; becoming known for helping average citizen of the Routic Imperium. These developments began to make Queen Silkrouter question the morals of Project EDEN. Psionic Mage Canyondust had been continuing with the experiments on Subject C-001 Canyonpelt; tried to study the nature of Adalyl's soul by trying to examine the parts that merged with Canyonpelt's soul. His son was introduced to a series of arcane operations that opened him up and sewed him shut over and over again. The two of them had learned much working together, but they had decided that what they were doing was wrong. As a result, they mutually agreed to halt work on Project EDEN for the time being. Not only did they regret their experimentation of Canyonpelt, but they felt they should not mess with a force so powerful without understanding it; neither did they trust anyone to know about Project EDEN and the experiments the two of them performed. Queen Silkrouter soon sealed Adalyl the First back underground to be hidden away until the time was right. |
The night before she was to be wed, Paladin Ashenidol paid a visit to Queen Silkrouter. Hidden by the cover of night, she was able to sneak into her chambers without being seen; abusing her rank as a Paladin to access forbidden parts of the castle. The Queen was startled by Ashenidol's sudden appearance, and leapt to call her guards but the Paladin blocked the way out. Stating that they had business to settle before she became Queen, Ashenidol explained that she was aware of the experiments that the Queen was trying to hide; arguing that the Queen's secrets made her a threat to the soon-to-be monarchs. The Paladin sought to uncover the truth behind these projects. She wanted to make sure that they would not be covered up before she was able to take the throne. Queen Silkrouter denied all of these allegations. She did not trust Ashenidol with the details behind Project EDEN, and did not want her tampering with the machines she had built to support the Imperium. This response angered Ashenidol, and she lashed out at Queen Silkrouter. The Paladin attacked her viciously, with the Queen forced to resort to using her machines to fight back against the dragon. The commotion caused Consort Cherry, who had been passing by in the adjourning hallway, to come in and investigate. As soon as she opened the door, Paladin Ashenidol tumbled out-- pursued by Queen Silkrouter wielding a makeshift mechanized spear. The battle continued as the two of them entered the hallway, with Queen Silkrouter gaining the upper hand by impaling Ashenidol's left arm. Roaring, the Paladin picked up Queen Silkrouter and tossed her, taking the fight to the connecting chamber for House Router's bedrooms. Consort Cherry followed them, desperately casting spells in an attempt to stop the fight and protect the Queen. Unfortunately it was too late, Queen Silkrouter and Paladin Ashenidol were locked in conflict-- the Queen shouting that Ashenidol was unfit to be the next Queen, and Ashenidol responding that the current Queen was too dangerous to be kept alive. Faced with uncertainty, Consort Cherry decided to activate an experimental spell that she had been developing with Parlimentarian BurningArcana: a wormhole connecting to the Allied Die Kingdom. |
Desperate to save his brother, Prince Starrouter rushed towards Paladin Ashenidol, bringing his lance down upon her. Noticing his approach, Ashenidol tossed Prince Starfern and grappled Prince Starrouter before he could even land a single blow. Watching her children being viciously wounded by the Paladin, Queen Silkrouter rushed over to protect them. Anticipating this, Ashenidol moved out of the way-- sending the Queen tumbling towards the wormhole. Off-balance, the Queen tried to return to her feet. Before she could, Ashenidol kicked her directly into the unstable wormhole, tossing Prince Starrouter into it after her. Shouting in anguish, Prince Starfern jumped into the wormhole after them. No longer able to maintain the wormhole due to her wounds, Consort Cherry collapsed and the wormhole dissipated. Laying on the ground weakly, Cheery threatened to reveal Ashenidol to the Imperium for the monster that she truly was. All Ashenidol had for a response, was that considering she would be Queen tomorrow, Cherry better watch her tongue-- or she would end up being charged for the murder of three members of the Royal Family.
[Opposition Era]
~~~
The next morning, King Guaposilver the Agronomist and Queen Ashenidol the Cold were wed; hatching a litter of two new children: Princess Ashensilver I, and Prince Guapoidol I. These new dragons signified a union between the two Houses that was not expected by members of the clan. As a result, a new era was ushered over the whole of the Routic Imperium (later dubbed the 'Opposition Era' by its citizens). However, Queen Silkrouter and her two sons, Princes Starrouter and Starfern, would not be there to attend. They had mysteriously gone missing the night before, leaving behind no trace of where they were going or what had happened to cause them to leave. Besides Guapostrider and Detective Serpentkiss, not many people were very concerned. After all, the Routic Imperium had just received a new King and Queen who hatched a historic third generation for the Imperium's two main houses. (placeholder) |
Silkrouter, Starrouter, and Starfern soon awoke to find themselves stranded on a remote section of the Magmablood Rebuke, a volcanic island in the Ashfall Waste. The land they arrived on was nearly inhospitable, and all they had to survive with was the junk that was sucked into the wormhole alongside them. Silkrouter immediately tried to recover all of the machines that came with them, stripping them for parts that could be used for survival. Starrouter and Starfern explored the surrounding areas, hunting the wildlife for food and scavenging the ruins for additional supplies.
