______ Sundew is a scholar at heart; as a practicing arcane researcher, he’s bound and determined to study the ebb and flow of the ley lines and how they affected the civilizations that came before. This requires a lot of fieldwork, and the Mirror took to magic like a duck to water to defend himself with. He even carefully raised and tamed a familiar he captured himself while out in the field to be an able companion in battle. And so the two may have remained as jovial bachelors, married to their work, were it not for a fateful meeting with a certain Obelisk: Andromeda.

______ Funny story, that - when he and Andromeda first met when she stumbled out of a side passage in the crumbling ruins of a tower covered in all manner of blood and monster parts, and Sundew took one look of horror at the ambling monstrosity and blasted the poor Obelisk through the wall. Hilariously, it was his familiar, Marigold, who first realized this was no monster, which caused them both to panic because now they had an unconscious, injured dragon relying on them.

______ 'How I met your mother’ indeed. The story never fails to embarrass the poor Mirror to no end, while Andromeda thinks it’s the funniest thing ever. Because yes, as cheesy as it sounds, the pair did eventually fall in love together. Once Marigold and Sundew took her back to where they’d set up base camp, they began treating her as best they could - Sundew initially aghast at Marigold having the audacity to start pawing through their unconscious guest’s bag, at least until he saw just how many medical supplies Marigold was dumping out. Andromeda travels well-prepared, and it pays off. This time was no different.

______ And in the epitome of bad timing, that’s when Andromeda woke up - staring Sundew right in the face, the Mirror dragon caught red-handed with a paw in her bag.

______ Once that misunderstanding was cleared up (thankfully before Andromeda could actually explode on the poor guy), the two naturally fell into easier conversation about their respective careers. Sundew about had a heart attack when Andromeda started talking about old ruins he’d never so much as heard of, and then almost died and went to heaven when the Obelisk pulled out a professionally made map of the place, done herself.

______ Needless to say, the group immediately went on an adventure. And then another, and another…soon, it was hard for both of them to imagine their life without the other in it. And when Andromeda tentatively brought up her dreams about raising her children…well, Sundew had his own dreams for that too. And what better way to educate the young than by taking them to see these places of history, power, and wonder firsthand?
