______ Cerulean is an accomplished cake designer, and actually has a bakery in the Colonnades of Antiquity, which she makes the daily commute to from the Thornspeaker clan’s lair (on weekdays, that is, as she closes her shop for the weekend). Ever since she was but a tiny hatchie, she’d always wanted to make beautiful cakes, and now she’s living that dream. Weddings, birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, she does it all. Running the Midnight Scale is a dream come true for her.

______ One day, Cerulean wants to make a cake that impresses even the gods. But in her mind, despite what her customers exclaim, she has a long way to go yet. But, slowly but steadily, her designs and abilities are improving. Maybe one day, she really will achieve that dream. The thought warms her heart. It’s a tall order, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Just extraordinarily difficult.

______ Lilue, as a strawberry noggle, is a source of great curiosity among zoologists, along with the chocolate noggle. Strange creatures that appeared only during the week around Valentine’s Day, they can no longer be found in the wild, having vanished as swiftly as they came. Cerulean found her familiar after the noggle had snuck into her bakery and began stuffing her face with as much cake as possible. After a mad chase around the store, Cerulean managed to corner and catch the strawberry noggle, and the rest is history.

______ How far the little familiar’s come since then - now, Lilue helps Cerulean make and design cakes rather than eating them! Well, mostly. She still gets to eat cake, only as a just reward rather than an ill-begotten gain. Win-win for the both of them.
