______ Kahjah was born and raised in a clan that completely and utterly despised the Plague Flight with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. But Kahjah knew plague-born dragons, despite her clan’s best efforts to shield their hatchlings from such. Dragons living in the Nature Flight, just the same as the then-hatchling herself. And they were a far cry from evil - the Gladekeeper wouldn’t take them into the ranks of her Exalted if they were. The ranks of nature’s finest dragons - many of which weren’t even elementally nature at all.

______ So…if not by inborn element, then what exactly defines nature? Growth? Life? Not all growth is good, and sickness is a part of life. So if not that, then what? The struggle for survival? Evolution? The natural order of things? Well, viruses, bacteria, parasites…aren’t they in a race for survival too? To evolve, and get the upper hand on their competition…wasn’t that just the natural order of things? No, nature and plague weren’t opposite and opposing forces; rather, they were two sides of the same coin. Disease and evolution were just another part of life, and all living things must rot and decay eventually.

______ As you can imagine, this was very much not a popular opinion among her clan. And it was their extremely negative reactions to Kahjah voicing this opinion was the straw that broke the camel’s back. That night, she spread her wings beneath the stars, and took flight, leaving the Everbloom Gardens behind. And it was in this self-imposed mission that she would stumble upon the love of her life: Basil.

______ And so the Thornspeakers were born. Unlike most dragons, Kahjah and Basil have sworn to each other for life. This is actually a point of contention between them and Zephyr, who believes that dragons should mate with many others in order to produce the strongest offspring. Speaking of hatchlings, Kahjah has a soft spot for hatchlings, and will take in any who are down on their luck (or not) under her wing, much to the amusement of her mate (the hypocrite). She also has an addiction to fondness for mistral mahjong.

______ Even with all of the hardships she and the others have been through, Kahjah regrets nothing. She would love nothing more than to see the Thornspeaker clan grow as new generations are born and other dragons decide to make it their home. Her goal is to make sure her dragons are well cared for, and that the clan lair is a place of safety for them.

______ Kahjah keeps a statuette of the Gladekeeper made by none other than Sunset in her den, honoring her original deity. Even if her and Basil’s clan is no longer a part of her flight, the Gladekeeper was good to them, and they loved her. It's a bitter feeling, knowing their deity probably hates them for actually leaving her flight in their exile, but...Kahjah and Basil just did what was best for their clan. In the end, that's all they could do.
