Biography
Kalani hatched in a clan residing in ice domain within Rimebone Stockade. She was born bearing multi-gaze mutation her many eyes seemingly inviting her coevals to poke them. She was able to avoid sticks in eyes thanks to seeing through all of them but that was mentally draining and needing to keep the other hatchlings far from the eyes was annoying to both Kalani herself as well as to her brother who defended her against other hatchlings. When he decided to move to the Fortress of Ends in order to serve their deity Icewarden Kalani too decided to leave her clan in order to find cure for her eyes. Kalani traveled towards north adopting an orphan black wolf on her way. She was able to get shelter from harsh weather from small clans she encountered but she was not able to find cure until she arrived to a small town residing within Cloudscrape Crags. After getting rid of her extra eyes Kalani decided to stay in the town starting to train to become warrior. She resided with a lightning engineer building half and fully automated tools to help the town survive and a plague warrior trainee slightly older than Kalani who helped her with her training Kalani being like daughter to them and them being like second parents to her. The town was a faction in a small mountain country and they paid taxes for the country's capital. In return the capital made sure the weather within the country remained non-lethal, the towns had materials to maintain their infrastructure, the residents had food to eat and it provided highly trained warriors to protect the towns if needed. However, the taxes had increased slowly since the formation of the country and towns were struggling to keep up. Kalani had been doing a scout tour around the town as part of her training when her wolf had led her to find some dragons who had lost their houses. Strong wind and small avalanche had destroyed them and the capital refused to delivered repair materials due to underpaid taxes. They were also suffering from hunger the town not having enough funds to buy enough even Kalani and her family slowly starting to feel effect of food shortage. All the other towns reported the same and they had contacted the leader of the country about the issue but either the leader never received the messages or they did not care. Things kept getting worse in all of the towns and after a blizzard caused harm in Kalani's town she and her plague parent started to wonder what the taxes were used for. The capital was supposed to keep the weather good yet the blizzard had still happened. The taxmen said it was because the town didn't pay enough taxes which Kalani found unreasonable it starting to be very apparent that they were simply taxed poor. Kalani had finished her warrior training when the taxmen arrived again she standing to oppose them. That inspired her fellow residents to stand up too and they refused to give the very little they had left. The taxmen refused to acknowledge the issue and when they told them to just start eating rocks the starving dragons had enough. The residents Kalani included engaged in battle against taxmen's guards it being a bitter loss for the residents the guards burning the few standing houses to the ground as revenge among those Kalani's house. The lightning parent was hurt in the fire but they survived thanks to the plague parent who gave their life in order to save them. To add to that Kalani's wolf was also killed during the conflict. Kalani was both devastated and furious. After helping the town to recover from the damage done she and few volunteers decided to confront the leader head on about the issue. After a challenging journey through frost and snow which luckily didn't claim any lives the group arrived to the city. The city seemed much more prosperous than their small town the palace and authority houses having been gilded almost entirely. However, their golden gleam hid a sad sight the capital also having its homeless and hungry. Having nothing to lose they joined Kalani's rebellion and they started to plan how they would reach the one in charge they having highly trained warriors guarding them. They decided to split their group in two. The first one would attack the golden statue which looked down to the city the clearly self-important leader most likely sending their guard to defend their statue. The second group would take that opportunity to approach the leader and overthrow them. After having their plan finalized and groups divided the rebels acted Kalani leading the second group. As expected the leader did not want their golden statue to be harmed and upon hearing it fall they sent their guards to eliminate the threat Kalani rushing into the temple after the guards ran out. The leader and their few remaining guards had not expected an ambush and with the power of surprise Kalani and her group were able to take down the leader and their guards with ease. The leader was wearing a lot of gold and to show that they had succeeded Kalani threw the golden pieces out of the palace down where the gilded authority houses were now ablaze. Her companions gathered more gold and likewise threw it out where more dragons arrived from lower levels to get back what was theirs. Kalani, sure that she had won, lowered her guard when leader's advisor arrived with capital's military force sending them to attack the rebels. They outnumbered Kalani's group and she turned to escape with few while some held the military back. The rebel group was no match against the military force and they started to scatter and fall as the military joined the battles. The advisor made it clear they wanted Kalani's head for what she had done and she escaped from the capital to her home town, or what was left of it. Back at home the lightning parent had managed to recover from their injuries and they had managed to find themselves a shelter from cold. They had skinned Kalani's wolf giving the pelt to Kalani. Kalani accepted it the plague parent having taught that would let the wolf share its spirit with her. The military force had followed Kalani to the town and they were looking for her. The lightning parent rushing her to leave they gave her one of their airborne scout robots having survived the fire saying it seemed to be possessed by the spirit of the plague parent. Kalani took it and the wolf pelt and sneaked out of the town seeing how the capital was yet again burning bright in the distance before blizzard blocked it. Kalani used the blizzard to get out of the town it both keeping the military force on ground and her trail hidden. Kalani was able to survive the blizzard thanks to her natural element and the wolf pelt it granting her ability to turn to wolf and possess other animals. She was moving north sure the military was still after her. Her plan was to get out of the ice domain and at the north port she changed her genes to cover her identity before hopping to a ship and sailing to the Starfall Isles. Upon reaching the Focal Point she decided to make her way to the sparsely populated west side in case the country had had connections in arcane. In there she sought shelter from clan called Ruoigu and offered her warrior skills in return. The clan had no need for them but they let Kalani stay anyway. Kalani enjoyed the peaceful and fair life in her new clan befriending fellow red warrior Rubikin in there as well as fellow wolf-shifter Blacksnake. The clan was rather secluded and if there were news from her previous home they had not reached her. Months later clan's ice ambassador Kronk brought Kalani news about the country saying it had collapsed. The snapper was able to connect Kalani to the dragon who had started rebellions in there but had no intentions to reveal her location to country's leftovers or her true identity to the residents. He was sure they didn't care even if it was to be revealed. Kalani thanked the snapper for news and understanding. She decided to stay in the clan in order to avoid running into old residents of the fallen country. 
Months passed by and beyond Kronk's news about collapse of the country Kalani did not hear anything from the fallen kingdom. The lightning parent reaching out for her was wishful thinking but Kalani had at least the military to put bounty on her head. There though didn't seem to be one and as time moved forward Kalani started to feel more at peace. She had had her warrior's name necklace turned around since her escape to pretend it was just a necklace, but because she didn't seem to have need to hide anymore she turned it around again. The residents wouldn't know what was special in the name necklace anyway. Most of the clan residents had their nests underground as part of a vast tunnel network Kalani being no exception. She was cleaning her den one afternoon when Yannis came to meet her with his rainbowbeast. Kalani knew two things about the fellow red mirror, he was a bounty hunter and he didn't usually approach others like that outside of his work. Kalani was fast to guess what the older mirror wanted and sure enough he asked if she was "the Kalani" from the fallen country. Kalani counter asked what it mattered if she was Kalani's robot pointing out how Yannis paid attention to her necklace. He told his client had asked him to bring her to them he asking if she came without a fight or if force was needed. The situation was bad for Kalani Yannis and his partner blocking her way out of her nest so she could not run. She could have battled her way past the two but the tunnels were awful place to battle and the beast alone would beat her with ease. Kalani tried to think for the way out as Yannis asked for her reply. She had ability to possess non-dragons but Yannis' partner seemed too intelligent to be possessed, and even if it was possible the beast could capture her as soon as she let go. That would happen no matter what the beast being big and thus hard to keep control over for too long. Yannis seemed to get impatient and took a step towards Kalani with his beast when Kolari's billy walked behind them. It was much more simple creature than Yannis' beast and Kalani jumped to its skin without second thought rushing out of the tunnels as soon as she had control over the billy. She knew she should not keep it for too long it being in the middle of tunnel maintaining, probably, and after getting out of the caves she jumped out continuing her escape in her dragon form. Yannis and his beast were following and in attempt to get rid of them she rushed through southern exit and to the southern defense sector in where she changed to her wolf form hoping Blacksnake's wolves would help her blend in. While in the Blacksnake's sector Kalani turned to the wood from the road and after finding a decent enough hide she stopped to think what the best course of action would be. The robot guessed the advisor had placed a bounty on her head which meant there were probably more bounty hunters after her head. Even if she managed to get rid of Yannis there would be more and more would come with time. Best she could do was to find the advisor and get rid of the bounty. She had not much time to think about details Yannis' partner moving way too close. Kalani decided to run not caring if her pursuers saw her. The two were soon just behind her but Kalani didn't worry she being sure she was able to get rid of them once she reached the beach. There were few gulls Kalani possessing one of them and flied out of Yannis' reach. Kalani was not sure where the advisor could be and without any leads she decided to start from where she had seen them last time. Using her wolf form she was able to move fast on the snow and the good weather made it even easier. It though caused some problems too her paw prints being clear as day on slightly softer snow. She had feeling Yannis was still following her and though she had nicely long lead the trail on the snow would lead him right to her. She needed to act quickly. After reaching the area of the country Kalani had rested a little bit in her old home town it being totally devoid of life. From there she made her way to the old capital it not looking much better the building there being burnt to the ground and those who had once lived in there had left. There were few thieves scouting the ruins and Kalani decided to deal with them in hopes of getting some information of where the advisor might have gone. Most of them didn't know but there was one who had heard of bounty placed on Kalani's head. They tried to capture her but Kalani dominated the battle from the start despite it being one versus few and after pinning them to the ground she managed to make them tell where they had gotten the information. The advisor supposedly lived now in another town with few guards. Kalani decided to tie up the thieves before leaving to protect her skin and after that was done she started to journey towards the advisor. After leaving the capital Kalani made her way across another town having been part of the country. Like the one in which she had lived, that one was also in ruin. As she walked through the broken houses the robot soon started to make warning noises. Kalani turned to see what it had seen barely dodging Yannis' claw as he jumped out from his hide. His beast was hiding on the other side it managing to catch Kalani's crest she managing to get away by pulling out her spear and almost stabbing the beast's hand with it. The reflex caused Kalani to be in another stalemate. She could not run fast enough spear in hand and putting the spear back would leave her open. The other two seemed to notice that and asked Kalani to come with them without fight. Trying to figure out how to get out of the situation Kalani decided to clear some stuff. She knew how much was offered for her head but she had never actually verified it had been the advisor who had placed the bounty. Yannis told the one placing the bounty had had quite high rank in the country Kalani had destroyed Kalani rushing to correct the higher-ups had ruined it themselves. Yannis stayed silent as to asking Kalani to give more details she telling how the capital had kept rising taxes despite the towns struggling to maintain themselves. She just could not watch it happen. Kalani's robot verified what Kalani said adding what she had lost when she had stood up. Yannis listened silently before asking what Kalani was trying to do. He guessed she tried to get advisor's head before they got hers but that didn't solve Kalani's issue. Most likely it would make it even worse as she would have killed an important dragon and get law enforcers after her. Kalani fell silent as she had not thought that far. She stood silently thinking what to do before telling she won't give herself in. What she did was justified, she was sure of it. Yannis and his beast glanced to each other as to thinking how to solve the situation. That was when Kalani decided to ask if the advisor had already paid for him which they had not, naturally. Kalani rushed to ask Yannis to help her saying she could pay more but the bounty hunter was fast to counter by asking where she would get the money. Kalani did not know and soon fell silent again. That was when Yannis' beast had an idea. One of the guards had had a basilisk accompanying them. Yannis would bring Kalani to the advisor and get the payment after which Kalani could try to possess the basilisk and turn the advisor and their guards to stone after which she would escape. To outsiders it would most likely look like the basilisk went berserk and no one would assume it was Kalani's doing. It was nowhere near a perfect plan but Kalani or her robot, or Yannis, were not able to come up with anything better. They decided to try it Kalani being very nervous. If the plan failed, she would be dead. Kalani and Yannis acted like the bounty hunter had managed to capture her. She had given her weapons to Yannis and let him cast few binding spells. They did prevent her from possessing anything and Kalani really wished Yannis would keep his word about removing them as soon as being paid. The advisor lived in a fancy house with few servants one of them escorting Yannis and Kalani to the advisor themselves. They were in their office with two guards all of them having simple pets, one of which was the basilisk. The advisor was pleased with the work Yannis "had done" and asked one of their servants to bring the payment, a huge bag of gems. After getting the payment Yannis and the servant left leaving only the advisor and their guards in the room. Before the door closed Yannis removed the binding spell Kalani being happy it was invisible. The advisor or their guards could not tell she was no longer bind. After waiting for some time the advisor turned their attention to Kalani saying they should finish it. The guards were about to start pushing her outside when Kalani possessed the basilisk. It had to be done now before they exited the closed space and got witnesses. As a basilisk Kalani started by turning the advisor to stone before they could escape the confused guards realizing what was going on too late. After the advisor was turned to stone Kalani turned her attention to the guards one of them keeping their eyes shut while the other did not realize to do that. After the other guard was turned to stone Kalani tried to get the other one to open their eyes they refusing to do so. Eventually Kalani's robot, which was given to the advisor among Kalani's weapons, managed to trick the guard to open their eyes and Kalani took the opportunity to stone them. After that was done Kalani took her dragon form, took her weapons and got out of the room by possessing a cockroach. After getting out of the building Kalani found herself another body that being a wild dove. As a dove she flew to where Yannis had promised to wait for her he and his beast waiting there patiently with the robot who had taken a different route. The robot had already told they had succeeded and without a word the group started to make their way back home. There few asked what they had done that one afternoon both of them deciding to brush it off as something others didn't need to worry about. Kalani returned to her normal life keeping her warrior skills sharp in case they were needed in future. Occasionally she wondered what had happened to her other parent and if there were others who blamed her for the fall of the country but she decided it was better to not worry herself with those thoughts. She was sure her other parent was still alive and that those who wanted her dead, if they existed, assumed the advisor had ended her.

Traits
Kalani is a red ice mirror her wings being very slightly duller than her main body. She was originally multi-gazed with light and dark marked body, plain wings and glowing red crests, legs and runes decorating her sides. She got rid of her extra eyes as soon as she could and she made both her body and wings speckled after escaping the consequences of her rebellion. She is sleek yet muscular and her crests are cartilage she moving them rarely to keep her emotions hidden from her potential opponent. Despite being an ice dragon Kalani is surprisingly warm most of the time she not feeling any different from other mirrors in the clan. When in battle her body temperature though drops fast she looking like sweating until the air and moisture around her has had time to readjust to her sudden colder skin temperature. Kalani is a warrior using fast and agile fighting style. Because of that her outfit is very light she having reddish brown bear pelt belt and red leg and arm guards. Under her left wing she carries her weapons also wrapped in reddish bear belt they including a spear, battle axe, mace and small dagger. On her head she has red feathered headpiece with ruby in front and on her neck she has round silver amulet with her name on it. Both of them were status symbols worn by lesser warriors in Kalani's second home and she has kept them as memory. The wolf pelt she wears is likewise memory of her old companion it granting her some transformation and possessing powers. Under her left arm guard she has charge pod for her robot companion though the robot doesn't need it which is why it is mostly used to help the robot locate Kalani when separated. The pod generates energy from Kalani's body temperature. Kalani has strong and unyielding but surprisingly high voice. She tends to shorten words she uses but not to the point of speaking in slang. She has mild German accent.
Kalani is confident and unyielding dragon who doesn't stop until she has reached what she wanted to reach. However thinking things through isn't one of her strengths and she may act out of impulse without thinking through possible consequences. She is ready to act outside of law if need to be not really giving thought to how others would see that act. She though is not stupid and doesn't usually rush into action without some kind of plan though for Kalani it can be very bare-bones to be accepted. Other than her impulsiveness Kalani is quite capable in leading and inspiring other dragons. Kalani is rarely seen with other dragons she preferring having just few close friends with who she hangs out. Still she is caring towards others, especially the ones without food or shelter. Sharing isn't really an issue for Kalani she doing that even with total strangers if they seem like needing something she has. On the flip side she though isn't very forgiving and if she has been angered she may never forgive. If she forgives it has usually required a lot of effort from the one who Kalani sees having offended her or someone else. She is also very bad with apologizing seeing what she did usually as the right thing to do. Even if she acknowledges her mistake it isn't that likely that she apologizes though she usually tries to fix the mess if she feels she needs to do so. Kalani has one companion is form of an airborne scouting robot made by her lightning parent which she calls Atevo. It is possessed by her plague parent who still remembers their time as living dragon and they have kept their parent child like relationship even though another one isn't living anymore. They share their observations with one and another, share tips and comment each other's doings things being like the plague parent was still alive excluding the fact they can't eat, sleep or use magic. Kalani also used to have black wolf named Wayla with who she was very close despite the wolf not being able to talk. Kalani adopted the orphan wolf and she saw the dragon as her parent because of that she giving up her life to protect her.
Kalani is more of a warrior than a mage and she doesn't really know any kind of spells. She can change her body temperature at will mainly being able to drop it near freezing point and she can turn her slashes and bites freezing cold. As a warrior Kalani is agile and fast and she is skilled in using four types of weapons spear and dagger being her strongest ones while axe and mace are less her types of weapons. As ice dragon she is able to stand very cold temperatures while not doing that great in extreme heat. The wolf spirit within the wolf pelt has granted Kalani few transformation abilities. She is able to turn into a black wolf similar to her late Wayla she being able to use skills normal to wolf while keeping ability to read and write. She can't speak or use ice skills when in wolf form. The cape also lets her possess other animals as long as their sentience level isn't too high. Like in her wolf form she gains access to animal's abilities while keeping reading and writing skills and losing speech and ice abilities. Most of the time she is able to keep the forms as long as she wants though with large animals she may need to let go eventually due to possessing them being extremely tiring. All of her apparels are transformed with her when changing forms or possessing other creatures. |
