The lost will always find their way. This is the chant inlaid in the brickwork of the Mistwalker Archive, named for the perpetual fog that accompanies its presence and for the fact that it never remains in one place for very long. Its name is heard in the whispers of the forlorn, but only the most promising will ever see its doors, let alone walk through them.The Archive chooses its people. Some have tried to force the Archive to manifest before them, but without success. Its ways are elusive and mystical, its magic ancient and unknowable. It is as though the walls themselves breathe and think, as though the windows have eyes and the doors have hands. It reaches where it will, where it wants. It claims what it will, what it wants. And though the ones it chooses are free to leave, should they choose, so few decide to depart. For, in part, the pull of the Archive is in its gaze, in its choice. It is so rare, to be wanted. To be hand-picked by something unknowable and seemingly benevolent, something that knows the inner workings of the soul as good as any well-trodden path. What better is there to cling oneself to than knowledge? And if not knowledge, then what of companionship within walls that are warm and welcoming, and that now teem with like-minded life? (notes: the archive is rumoured to have once been the abode of a king driven mad, who cursed the building to escape from his people, once they turned on him [valdis]; some think the archive did, in fact, belong to a noble family, but that a wizard stole it from them, enchanting the building to shift positions constantly so as to guard the secrets hidden beneath it, namely the underground passages frequented by the oracle and his fellows; those locked within the archive's dungeon slowly lose their sense of self and fade away until all that's left is an indistinct shadow of who they may once have been; only one has ever recovered from such a state, having been imprisoned but later rehabilitated, and this individual is the great sage lyrik) Vivamus dolor elit, efficitur in purus id, tristique aliquam metus. --━━━━━━ ⬤ WELCOME DIVISION ━━━━━━━━--
The Welcome Division is the smallest of the Archive's divisions. For that reason, it is arguably the most tightly-knit, composed of only four members: Atria, Inna, Royce and Umbra. These members are responsible for protecting and monitoring the entrance to the Archive, as well as taking care of any newcomers and ensuring that they are properly enrolled, should they wish to remain at the Archive for a while. Royce also does his best to keep track of those who visit, though just how thorough he is at his job is a subject of debate amongst the Division.Though no one is necessarily in charge of the Welcome Division, its members tend to defer to Umbra, as she refuses to defer to anyone but herself. Even so, Umbra herself is hardly much of a meddler, and decision-making is largely at the discretion of each individual member of the Division. In the case of conflict or emergency situations, they defer to the wisdom and authority of the Second Mistsage, Miruna, for it was she who hand-picked each of the members of this Division and assigned them their roles.
