Biography
Maeri
Historian Maeri is one of the first obelisks, carved from stone by the Earthshaker himself and brought to life by his magic. She was one of the first to break her stone form so the clan representatives present at the dig didn't have to lug home a huge statue, instead bringing with them a young obelisk on unsteady new legs. Maeri is incredibly curious, but meticulous in all she does, and has taken on the role of historian and researcher, choosing the realm of the Arcanist as her focus. |
She requested to come home with Marcella and Haust upon discovering that they lived in the Starwood strand, having first thought due to their elemental alignments that they hailed from the Flamecaller's domain, and quickly became a member of the clan. Maeri is very sincere in her pursuit of knowledge, something that immediately endeared her to the clan, and she quickly secured passage to the astrolodome from time to time with the autumn loving dragon, Haust. She is a fairly solemn dragon who rarely exhibits hyperactivity but her excitement upon a new discovery or hearing an interesting fact is plainly visible. She's a very good listener and can be extremely patient based on the off chance that someone might have something historically important to say for her to document. She notes all her findings in a large tome decorated with the emblem of the Arcane flight, a gift to her upon her arrival from Aragona, who had been delighted that one of the Earthshaker's newest children had chosen her clan as her home.
Her statue form is composed of a milky white snow quartz that lightly resembles ice. Although she doesn't speak of it often, the nameless threat that necessitated the creation of her breed weighs heavily on Maeri, and she feels quite a bit of responsibility towards it. It comes across her mind often, and she is often stressed because of it even though she tries to hide it. She feels strongly connected with the Earthshaker and his flight as a whole since the deity quite literally shaped her with his own magic. her sturdy body is covered in fine lines resembling cracks in rock, a result of her sudden awakening at the hands of the earthshaker himself. Pearl, who seems to find Maeri tolerable for some reason, perhaps in the hope that the obelisk will be able to shed some light on or even produce a solution for her situation with her research, theorizes that Maeri simply couldn't wait to be brought to life properly and moved her large limbs before her stony hide had been completely changed. Maeri privately disagrees but is willing to entertain the hatchling's jibes anyway.
Maeri was puzzled by her elemental alignment at first, indubitably ice, but although she had expected her element to be earth the solemn obelisk has accepted that the earthshaker in his wisdom simply saw something she could not and decided to 'share' his newest children with the other flights. She has a fine handle on her ice magic but doesn't use it often. She carefully grooms herself every day and always had extremely soft fur, her lush mane flowing around her majestically. She also wears gold-rimmed glasses that make her look older than she is, and dons coral colored courtier clothing that fits her well. Maeri isn't very combat-inclined, but her solid form is quite strong and she can use her size to her advantage in a fight.

"Ah, hello there!" the fluffy obelisk adjusts her spectacles "You're here to inquire about a clanmember, perhaps?" She nods sagely "as the clan's historian I take special care to keep detailed records of the dragons and..-" she clears her throat, smiling "other beings that have settled here." she winks "Have a look!"
