Biography
When Walter and his sister Lydia hatched the hatchery was filled with dragons and Walter didn't need to be alone even when his sister declined his company. She preferred company of Pahatar, a fellow serious female wildclaw, while Walter preferred company of anybody else, especially Glenn. Surprisingly their preferred companies could also be described as "interested in science" and "not caring about science" Walter belonging to the first group. Walter had been interested in biological stuff he having studied his food while in the hatchery and after leaving with other hatchlings he joined some hunting groups to see some living yet-to-be-cut creatures. While hanging out with hunters Walter met with Fen who studied ecology and joined the hunting groups for the same reason as Walter did, though as a fae he did not find their catches delicious. For a few weeks Walter acted as Fen's apprentice of sorts he carrying the smaller dragon to Malvadust after he was bitten by a spider. After getting the fae to the old tundra Walter left the old friends alone and walked out of the healing offices but not before taking a look at Noonan's pet, the blue lion looking one. It looked like a weird mix of octopus and a lion and Walter had feeling that type of creature shouldn't exist, at least based on what he had learned about animals. He decided to visit Pinkapi, as Fen was sick, to ask about the creature and as he made his way towards the Hoard he met with Skugga and her six-eyed wingless bird it looking like coming from the same place as the octopus lion. Pinkapi with her terrible memory wasn't much help but her familiars were able to remind her about the portal through which the creatures had come about a year ago. After hearing about that Walter decided to visit Benizakura being sure the "portal event" had been big enough to be written down in history. The old pearlcatcher happened to be at lunch break when Walter arrived to the library and instead he met with Glenn in there they studying something about dreams and dream manipulation. While they were talking Walter had an idea of starting to study those portal creatures as they were still relatively new and had a lot yet to be understood. After reading through the information that was available about the portal creatures and their original home Walter decided to visit the another world. Fen had taught that the best way to learn about creatures and environments they inhabit is to see them for real. The location of the portal was well-known to the dragonkind and Walter was able to make his way there relatively easy. The dragons he encountered on the way though warned him about doing a crave mistake or being unprepared but Walter did not care. He reached the portal and stepped to the other side after a long sigh in front of the magnificent monument. The view on the other side of the portal was very different to what Walter was used to on the dragon side. The air felt like being made out of pure magic, creatures floated like islands of the Starfall Isles and the sky was torn apart by a massive storm. Walter walked forward to see more of the bizarre land planning to not stray too far away from the portal in case something went wrong. He though was a bit too overconfident, or curious, and walked without paying a mind to the ground which all of a sudden cave in when Walter walked on it. The fall wasn't too long and he was able to soften the fall but he still hurt his leg and dropped his lunch bag. Walter's injury didn't prevent him from walking though it made it slow which didn't help when his lunch bag was stolen by a three-eyed monkey-bat thing. It studied the bag flying away when Walter tried to approach it. Walter did chase it his leg eventually giving in and he fell the monkey thing coming closer to see what he was. As it came closer Walter was able to catch his bag the monkey letting go when he tried to grab it too. It though did not fly away and stayed looking at Walter curiously he opening his bag and offering the monkey thing some of his lunch. It was hesitant to take the food from Walter's hand but it eventually took it and after studying it for a moment, and tasting it, it flew away. Walter was able to make his way back home with his broken leg and went to see the healers to get it treated. While he was there resting he started to grow extra eyes across his body Malvadust blaming Noonan who in turn blamed the energies on the other side of the portal. Though Noonan's treatments were known to have some serious side effects Walter was with Noonan he not remembering her giving him anything that could have caused the mutation, because Malvadust had not allowed that. About a week after the signs of multi-gaze the eyes were fully developed with sight and Walter was allowed to leave the offices. Walter wanted to return to the other side of the portal but decided to do a lot more preparations before that. He gathered proper protection gear and after learning about potential pressure differences on the other side he decided to find a way to keep sudden increase in pressure from crushing his bones Ayla being able to provide such an alteration for him. On the flip side he needed to learn to live without ability to fly, or run, and he had to find an alternative way of climbing his claws no longer being fit for that. After few weeks of preparation Walter decided he was ready to return to the other side and took off. Nothing had changed on the other side of the portal since Walter had been there last time. Fen had pointed out that Walter had good camouflage color for the other side of the portal and using that he hid behind some rocks to take notes of some floating mushroom aliens. While he was doing that he heard someone rustle his bag and he turned to see what it was. It looked like the monkey thing Walter had encountered last time and its lack of fear of Walter and determination to open the pocket, holding his lunch, told Walter it was the very same specimen. Walter had prepared some extra snacks and gave few to the monkey thing which flew to nearby rock to eat its food Walter turning to make notes of it. He assumed that its eyes were not that sharp which would explain how it had recognized him despite his different appearance, or it was smart enough to consider change of appearance. Then there was the possibility of it having abilities to tell he was the same dragon it had encountered before, it having massive third eye in the middle of its forehead and all, or it had not recognized him and had just started to go through random traveler's stuff because it had learned they had food. After eating the monkey thing came closer tapping the mask Walter was wearing he opening it to let the monkey to see his face. The monkey made noise nothing like monkeys in the dragon world made, and because the noise was not followed by flight or aggression Walter assumed it was noise of happiness. The monkey started to follow and help Walter he assuming it sensed his curiosity and helped because it too was curious. The day-night cycle was very different to the dragon world and Walter was not sure how long he had been there. During the undetermined time Walter had managed to tame a llama thing to act as his mule and he had managed to get nice amount of notes about local creatures, and the monkey thing had taught him how to make food in there after they ran out of that. Walter decided he needed to visit the dragon world to organize his notes and after stepping through the portal he noticed his two companions followed him. He took them with him and showed them a little bit of dragon world as thank you for showing their world. Back in home everything was like how Walter remembered them to be except Pahatar had become interested in dreams like Glenn was and the two spend a lot of time together. Walter was sure it was not "closer than friends" -thing the two being rather closely related, and Glenn told they were barely friends they spending a lot of time with Pahatar because she helped them to push forward with their studies. After having checked the clan Walter decided it was time to return to the other side of the portal his companions probably starting to miss their home, and after restocking they returned there. Though Walter had spent decent amount of time on the other side of the portal he had barely encountered other dragons if he even had. He was rather surprised when soon after returning he encountered two primal-eyed and deformed dragons in there Walter assuming their look was caused by wild energies in there. Walter was curious about the two dragons they not looking like researchers and the two seemed to be curious of Walter in return. They became twice as interested after they heard from which clan Walter was from Sapny telling they had once visited the lovely clan when Walter asked why they were so interested about that fact in particular. Shadow asked how the clan was doing Walter being rather open with the two mages. After a longish chat the two mages said they needed to get going and Walter did the same walking deeper to the realm while the two walked towards the portal. Walter spent once again a lot of time on the other side of the portal eventually returning to the clan in the middle of some kind of argument. The two primal-eyed mages were in the lair the clan feeling extremely tense due to their presence the leaders and their guardians talking with the mages all being clearly afraid. From the dragons around the conservation Valenca looked like being able to give Walter the best picture and he asked the waitress what had happened while he had been gone. She told Pahatar had made some experiments with clan's dreams after having enchanted everyone to sleep and the two mages had managed to solve the situation that had taken lives of few younger experiments. Problem was the two had been exiled from the clan for a bit over a year now after trying to summon the Shade and that was something the clan did not want to forgive even after they had helped them. Walter felt a bit awkward having arrived in the middle of the situation and went to look for Glenn hoping to chat with them while the situation was going on. Walter though was not able to find them and after talking with Halti he was told that Glenn had worked with Pahatar and left with her. Walter was sure Glenn would not do what he had heard Pahatar had done and Halti told Glenn probably had no ill intend they having actually hold the dark wildclaw back which was probably why they had followed her. Halti told he was going to follow and act as spy to see what Pahatar was up to he promising to deliver Walter's message to Glenn. Walter returned to the portal after getting his research organized and after returning he had received a message from Glenn they telling what they were up to, what had happened and where they lived now. The two started to write to each other mostly in secret as Glenn was seen as accomplice and thus outlaw by the clan the two comparing who made more progress with their studies.

Traits
Walter is an arcane wildclaw with bluish grey body and brownish wings. After starting to travel to another dimension he has modified his body to stand changes in pressure better his body being like jelly. His bones have remained like they were before modification they being visible through his slightly transparent body they looking bluish due to his body's color, and his organs are also visible though they are harder to see. His feathers are sloppy due to being made out of jelly and his horns and claws are covered with jelly like substance similar to rest of his body though the cover isn't thick enough to prevent pain if he hits with them, though it does soften the impact. After his first trip to the other dimension Walter mutated to have multi-gaze he having long line of eyes from his original eyes to near his tail tip. They all see light normally. Walter does field studies in another dimension and he wears very neutral clothes to not stand out in there. He has a grey mask which keeps potentially dangerous gasses out of his lungs and on them he has black glasses they helping him to see in low light the mask's lenses having already been enchanted to protect from bright light and radiation. To keep himself warm he has a tan bandana, mantle and wrap covering his back and sides and brown furry leg and arm warmers. He has many pockets on his sides and under his wings in which he keeps his tools, and an ice pick which he uses to both climb and defend when need to be. When in lair he tends to be more casual and rarely wears the mask when in there. Walter has somewhat deep and clear voice and informal and polite way of speaking. He is rarely heard using nicknames and even more rarely is he heard mix his words. He has clear American accent.
Walter is curious dragon who enjoys doing field research not really liking to be between four walls. He used to be a bit careless when younger but he learned fast after breaking his leg and developing few extra eyes as result. Walter has always been rather sure he will be alright and is not afraid of small accidents he being ready to adapt to changes that may follow. He has a small competitor inside him and he is very likely to accept challenge if presented one though he doesn't actively look for one. He won't feel bad if he loses though especially when with his challenges it is usually hard to tell who is in the lead they often being research based. Walter works alone and is overall seen rarely with other dragons. He though is a social dragon accepting almost any company that is offered as long as it is not harmful. He is generally calm and supportive but also active he often keeping the conversation going if no one else is. He has no issues with presenting his opinions when needed but he also knows when he knows too little to have his opinion have any weight. Walter is very hard to be angered he being often more curious about the situation and other opinions than he is interested in having his thoughts be taken seriously. He is unlikely to notice others' opinions being ignored but he does notice if someone is physically being treated badly and his strong opinion is that it is not alright, no matter the reason. Walter has two companions he has tamed himself in the other dimension. Bennet the barhide menace was the first of the two Walter meeting it during his first field trip the creature remembering him when he came back. Like Walter Bennet is also very curious which is main reason why it decided to start travelling with the dragon. It is smart enough to having been able to learn few words of Dragonian it writing better than it can speak though its handwriting isn't the best around. Along with having learned some dragon customs Bennet has taught Walter some of its species customs and language and it generally helps Walter get around the other dimension, and out of bad situations. Rosenberg the giggling planesrunner was tamed to act as the duo's mule of sorts Bennet having been the big help which is why the two are close. Unlike Bennet Rosenberg doesn't speak or write but it clearly understands speech and writing and the fact it can laugh to dragon jokes tells it understands humor. It is more mischievous than Bennet often teleporting ahead and laughing when others are tired once they catch up with it. Walter is very attached to his two companions and sees them as very close friends. He is sad not being able to tell their genders, if they have those, he feeling bad for calling them "it" he knowing they don't like "they".
Walter is decent with magic he being able to levitate items, change their sizes and he can charge them with magic. He can also teleport and create light and he can drain energy from other living being for some degree. As he has traveled a lot outside of dragon regions he has rather large internal reserves of magic which he can refill with the resources he creates for himself. He can also navigate with stars. Walter has studied eldritch creatures and knows fair bit about them and their habits. Thanks to help from his companies he has learned how to interact with them and he has learned a little bit of alien languages, mainly the one used by menaces and chacmas ,and talks them decently. Due to spending a lot of time in the another dimension Walter does pretty well in there he knowing where the threats most likely strike and what kind of terrain is safest to walk on. He is also good with navigating in there, even better than what he is in dragon worlds where it is not out of ordinary to have him get lost if stars aren't visible. Due to the modification made for his body Walter cannot fly or run his wings being too elastic to lift him up and he lacks muscle strength to sprint. He is also bad with using his claws they being covered with jelly but on the flip side he can survive in high and low pressures as well as long falls with minimum damage. He can be hurt but the cuts most likely are not dangerous to him they healing fast, he doesn't need to worry about losing blood which he doesn't have. He can stand heat but extreme coldness is dangerous to his body as is water in large quantities. |
