“Finet, finale, the end. Welcome back, my dear Arcanist.”
Grape opens his eyes to the stars.
This is highly unusual, because he is 90% sure he did not fall asleep outside, and he’s also 100% sure he fell asleep on solid ground, not in space.
Flailing for a moment, he manages to stabilize himself, floating in place. He blinks rapidly, adjusting to his environment. The stars twinkle around him, welcoming the new deity. The new Arcanist, one could say.
After a long moment, a solitary voice speaks. “Welcome back,” it starts, before abruptly devolving into static. A lone figure materializes in front of him, most certainly not dragonic in appearance. More like a centaur, but if centaurs had two legs. “We’ve been waiting for you.”
“Oh,” Grape says, unsure of what to make of that. “Thanks, I think.”
“I am-” The voice devolves into static again, and the figure distorts with it, before returning to a stable appearance. “There is no designation currently assigned to me. I am your assistant.”
No designation? What did that mean? Grape stays silent for a moment, before asking, “What are you?”
“I am an artificial intelligence, but not in the conventional way,” the figure says. “I am a mind created from magic. I am here to serve whoever falls into the role of the-” More static. “- at this time.”
A pause. “It would appear as though my framework is having difficulties due to chrono-spacial reality restructuring. I will reboot to resolve the issue.” The figure fades from existence.
Grape, stunned, does nothing for a solid ten minutes, trying to figure out what in the name of the Flamecaller just happened. By the time he regains his wits, the figure has reappeared, floating in front of him once more.
“Reboot successful,” it announces, folding its arms behind its back. “I am once again operating at full potential. I await your word, my dear Arcanist.”
