Iggy was one of three who hatched from Prince Regis' fourth clutch. Their mother was a Gaoler named Nessa. The Shade had grasped control over her and delivered to Regis for the purpose of their children's creation. No sooner had the eggs hatched than the Shade completely consumed the female Gaoler, leaving no trace of the unfortunate mother. As with all of his children, Regis never really bothered about raising them, nor did he show any particular interest in fatherhood beyond making them. How do you suppose that made Iggy feel? It would be only natural to feel angry, disowned, hurt, unimportant, or any other number of emotions...and perhaps he did. Iggy's an interesting case, however. He has a strange, chaotic relationship with his sense of self.

He's integrally connected to the Shade hivemind, and has a habit of remembering the memories of others of the hivemind instead of his own, and feeling other hivemind members' emotions instead of his own. Meanwhile, his ability to sense his own emotions is so dull that he's pretty much clueless about them. Often times, he'll become angry at a joke, or laugh at something serious, and then follow it up with "Oh, sorry. That one wasn't mine." Or, he may respond to something and then follow it up with "That's right, isn't it?"

Whether it's his original opinions or ones he's adopted, however, there are some consistencies with Iggy. First, growing up, he wasn't sure how he felt about the Shade consuming his mother. It took some wrestling, but eventually he decided that the Shade used her, and since his father is also Shade, hsi father used her. However, Iggy himself is also one with the Shade. And so, in a way, he used her himself in order to come into being. Thus, in the end, he decided that it's just how things went and doesn't actually care.

Another thing is that he adores sour gummies and energy drinks, neon lights in dark places, and any combination of electronic music (synthesizer, techno, club, dance, and so on.) He generally portrays the persona of someone who's fun-loving and cavalier, often enjoying himself to the fullest and laughing about this or that quite often. To this end, he's found a run-down old place in one of the underground cities of the Shifting Expanse to call home. He also makes his own gummies...and will usually slip a little of his Shade essence into them as he does. Eating them himself just returns the essence to him, but if a regular dragon eats it...the dragon becomes Shadetouched.

Ichorus (Iggy's real name) was given his name because his Shade heritage is easily visible in his physical form. Sometimes, the black splashes of fur looks simply like just that: black fur, or black antler tips. However, these parts of him can transform and move unnaturally, extending as dark tendrils of Shade. With them, he can infect dragons with his own essence, injecting it into their very bodies, and thus inflict the "Shadetouched" condition on them.

He lived with his father for much longer than his clutchmates did. At least one of them was guided by the Shade to a Shadetouched dragon named Aldrich. Iggy, however, lazed about at home. This greatly irritated his father, Regis, who wound up always comparing him to Einros (Regis' first son and the leader of the Counterseeker Order), asking him why he couldn't be more like the elder son, and asking when he was going to get serious and start doing his part to spread the Shade instead of loafing about with no ambition. Iggy would groan about it in response, but eventually, he finally left home and headed for the Shifting expanse, where his interests could be met. It just so happened that while he was there, he found his way to spread the Shade: making gummies and setting up impromptu dance clubs in the bad part of town.
