Regis is the second son of the Shadeglitch King, Alioetheus himself. He shares the honor of being among Alioetheus' first children only with his older brother, Rhys. Even though he was not the first to emerge from the shell, (trailing his older brother by only seconds) Regis takes his role in life very seriously. Ever since he emerged from his egg, his parents would tell him about their purpose: the goal that their family dedicated themselves to achieve. They were to increase the power of the Shade. One day, the Shade would take over the world, and restore it to its natural state: a state that the dragons' deities disrupted long ago. The world would be set right one day, making it comfortable for the Shade to inhabit. Regis looks forward to that day, and does all he can to see it come about, whether through combat or through having children of his own.

Like his father, though Regis can hear the collective consciousness of the Shade, he is autonomous, having his own sense of self and the ability to make his own choices. This comes from the unusual properties his father's dragon form possesses, made from the same stuff as a dragon of legend: Naomi, the Glitch Queen. It is speculated that she had first contact with the Shade, but there's nothing definitive to confirm this story. Still, it's one that Regis believes with a grain of salt.

As for the prince himself, he's somewhat immaculate. Regis keeps his fur in pristine condition: clean, well-groomed, and healthy. Some strands of his mane have been pulled back, held in place with a golden clasp while the remaining locks tumble and flow pristinely down his shoulders. His narrow, well-defined facial structure and thick, luscious locks are reminiscent of his grandfather's, though Regis is much more careful to maintain his most handsome features than Rose ever was.


One day, Regis' father came to visit him and his mother. This visit resulted in his parents' second nest of Gaolitchshades, which contained his two younger sisters: Umi and Ashnyra. Umi went back with the Shadeglitch King, and Ashnyra, the youngest of the first four Gaolitchshade royal children, stayed with Hoara and Regis.

Regis had always been a largely independent dragon, and Hoara wasn't a very involved mother. Thus, Regis found it a bit odd and certainly curious to see his little sister...not be this way. She acted less Shade and more Dragon, especially as a baby: cooing and tripping over her feet and tail as she did her best to stay near her mother and brother, looking up at them with eyes filled with adoration and with hope for attention. Regis thought it was entirely unfitting behavior for a Gaolitchshade -- especially a royal one. After all, Gaolitchshades were strong, noble beings, and doubly so for the king and his family. He mildly admonished the child, filled with distaste. Little Ashnyra didn't seem to understand him, though.

Sighing in annoyance at the tedium of it all, Regis decided then and there that he would take responsibility for helping his little sister become a proper Gaolitchshade Princess. He has looked after her, instructed her, and provided for her ever since. And though he can seem aloof, putting off fairly sincere airs of self-importance, Regis has developed a bond with Ashnyra, and there is a special brand of tenderness and trust between them.
