Subspecies Lore (more details at the bottom of this post):
Gaolitchshaded dragons are shrouded in mystery. Scholars far and wide wonder how they came to be, where they might have come from. It wasn't until now, that they finally had their answer...
This strange and intriguing new lineage line came to be when two very special dragons, Alioetheus and Hoara, made their first nest together.
From Alioetheus, Naomi's Glitch Queen blood intermingled with the Shade from both Hoara and himself.
The Shade then spread from her, creating Shadetouched vessels- ahem I mean, the children themselves.
Children that hold plenty of value, for more reasons other than the Shade within them. After all, it turns out they are not completely driven by the Shade, but rather, their ideals are similar to their father's ideals... while still having plenty of ideals that are their own.
Gaolitchshade descendants, unlike Shadetouched dragons, are an integral part of the Shade, and its hivemind.
As they grow, they seem to exhibit more and more of their Shade-like abilities. The Glitch Queen's blood also exhibits itself more with age, likely due to the Shade's corruption on the body causing... Irregularities, to put it lightly. Their mission?

The lineage so far:
Generation 0:
Alioetheus himself, likely due to being descended from Naomi, has not completely lost his mind to the Shade's hivemind.
A mutated piece of Shade which took on a Gaoler's form; he is coherent enough to have his own thoughts.
His Shade powers have begun to show themselves, transforming his basic hide into that of a strong and noble Jaguar's spotted hide. While many believed he would put on a grand display of acquiring his Tertiary, the truth is that it was as subtle as could be.
Rather than something flashy, in the end he chose something less likely to draw unwanted attention from other dragons... Braids.
He braided parts of his mane to complete the image of a fierce hunter of old...
He is the Shadeglitch King.
Hoara is the Shadeglitch Mother. She is not coherent enough to be the queen, due to the Shade's collective conscious having near-complete control of her consciousness...
Do not let this other title fool you though, for she is to be as feared as Alioetheus is by outsiders.
The first generation:
Rhys is the first Gaolitchshade Prince. When the nest hatched, he was the one to stay with his father, in their shadowy clan located deep within the Wispwillow Grove.
Regis is the second Gaolitchshade Prince, born mere seconds after his brother, Rhys.
After the two hatchling were born, he went with his mother back to her home... Wherever "home" was, at the moment, that is.
Umi is the first Gaolitchshade Princess. Like her brother Rhys, she stayed with her father after she hatched, which meant moving to the Wispwillow Grove.
Ashnyra is the second Gaolitchshade Princess, born mere seconds after her sister, Umi. Like Regis had, she stayed with her mother after the nest had hatched.
Other lore that ties into the lore of Gaolitchshades and clarifies bits and pieces of it:
The Escape of the Mastermind Shade Piece
(Complete story found here)
Underneath the Southern Icefield, in the ice caves guarded by Gaolers, a piece of Shade was trapped: encased in ice and guarded by Gaolers. When one older Gaoler named Shiv accidentally slept too close to the Shade piece's prison, it entered her like an infection, and tore her into two beings: the original version of herself, and a younger clone. It inhabits the older version of Shiv and created more of itself to place within the younger's body. It also separated her memory from her ability to reason and organize her thoughts. The younger received Shiv's cognition, and the older one, a confused jumble of memories. The younger has memories fabricated by the Shade piece and believes the older is her grandmother. She decided to leave the Southern Icefield, while her true body remains above the snow, unable to take any action against the Shade piece she knows is inside her. The younger Shiv, however, remains unaware that she carries a Shade piece within.
Another Piece Escapes
(Complete story found here)
A Shadetouched Pearlcatcher kept beneath the ice tried to escape its prison, and dropped its pearl as it was recaptured. A young Gaoler named Garreth came to assist the others, but they had the situation under control, so he began to leave. That was when he saw the pearl. Though he remains unaware of it to this day, the piece of Shade had gone into the pearl, and enticed the young Gaoler to pick it up. He did. Over time, the Shade piece influenced Garreth, corroding his thoughts and beliefs. He slept next to the pearl, and always kept it nearby. One day, he decided to leave the Gaoler society beneath the ice and find another life for himself. He took the Pearl with him, and bits of Shade had already seeped into him.
Hoara
(Complete story found here in combination with here)
In the end, the two Gaolers who had contracted the Shade wound up together in the Tangled Wood. Though they had not expected to become parents, they soon had their first nest. They didn't intend to keep the children, and so sent them off to find new homes before they even hatched. However, to their horror, one reappeared, and no matter what they did, she would always return. There was a sense of wrongness about her that the couple couldn't place. She was also always cold, to the point where snowflakes fell from her eyes. She also acted more like a sorrowful animal than an intelligent being. They named her Hoara. They did not know it, but she was half-Shade and half-Gaoler.
Alioetheus
(Complete story)
There was something wrong. Always something wrong. The air, the ground... Everything. Everything about this place was wrong. It was something that Alioetheus had known since his first breath. It was all just so indescribably and utterly wrong.
He hatched alone. He has no memory of ever having been cared for. It was natural for him -- as natural as it was for an adult to fend for himself. Alioetheus kept to the shadows, where things were less wrong. It was like the world was full of distortion. And his own form... What was this? Why was he like this?
One day, he sensed it. Something... right. He rushed to it. Finally, something right in the world! ...And yet...not.
Alioetheus frowned in deep sympathy at the one he had found. He could hear her lonely soul wailing softly in anguish. He could almost hear her thoughts. "What am I? Why are things so different? Why am I alone?" Cold radiated from her. He could see snowflakes falling from her eyes, her insides were so cold. She was blind. Blind to him. Blind to what was right.
The world was terrible. That was why they tried to fix it. But those monsters...they froze them, and stopped them from making the world right. They kept it wrong. The world needed to change... Alioetheus understood this, but was unusual. He was more individual than the collective. He had his own thoughts and was less proactive, even though he agreed with their ideals. And this poor girl... She wasn't too different from him. Some part of her could hear them. But another part of her was foreign. It was a part of the monsters' world. She was afflicted by it.
With sudden realization, Alioetheus realized that he wasn't so different from her. He was more in tune with the rest of the Shade's hive mind, but he had more autonomy...and the body of a monster. She was both, and both sides were fighting against one another. He was a mutated piece of Shade which had taken on Gaoler form.
Sympathy moved him. Alioetheus came next to the girl, who jumped at first, regarding him with fear. But he pressed his side against hers and wrapped a wing and an arm around her, sending her his feelings through the link that all pieces of Shade had. More and more snowflakes poured out from her eyes as she wailed breathily and mournfully, releasing her loneliness...for she, finally, was not alone.
Gaolitchshades
(Complete story found here)
Unlike Alioetheus, Hoara is more susceptible of the collective mind of the Shade. She still exists as an individual, but usually as one who cannot form much thought because her mind is constantly being bombarded by the Shade, and her body is constantly being ravaged by her Gaoler DNA trying to fight the Shade off. Alioetheus shields her now, however, through their Shade connection, in order to allow her some relief. In this way, she can think and feel much more easily, though she still has trouble observing and interacting with the world outside her mind. She went with Alioetheus to his home, and laid two of his eggs in their first clutch. Something deep within her, like a migrating instinct, then activated. With Alioetheus' help, she was able to discover the plan of the Shade piece who infiltrated Shiv: the Shade would multiply by intermingling with dragon DNA, and then consume their dragon hosts, decreasing dragon population and increasing the Shade. The Shade collective consciousness agreed with this plan, hence Hoara's impulse to spread the Shade. She couldn't not follow this impulse, even though Alioetheus had the ability to turn away from the Shade's demand. He agreed with the plan, however, and so the two devoted themselves and their family to this goal.

Prologue: The Foretold Rising of the Gaolitchshades (a new Gaolitchshade strain emerges)
As the older brother of Alioetheus, Viitor was the first special dragon that their parents, Nessiah and Avatre, had created. He had stayed in his parents' clan until adulthood, before he went to live in a different clan.
Where he differs from Alioetheus, however, is the fact that he can see into the future with his Multi-Gaze eyes. It was with this power that he foresaw the birth of his younger brother, and foresaw part of his brother's future.
What he had seen was the subspecies his brother would go on to create.
And he saw that, should he choose to, he would also be able to create Gaolitchshade descendants.
Another thing that separates the two brothers is that while Alioetheus exudes pure Shade essence from his eyes, Viitor seems to ooze a thicker, shinier form of the same substance from his face and the front of his body, due to his future sight
Extras:
Gaolitchshade Consorts
Gaolitchshade Consorts are also known as "favored mates", among the Gaolitchshades and the studs (this happens quite a lot with the Royal line-)
In other words, they are the Gaolers (and Gaolitchshades/mates alike) that breed with the Gaolitchshades and the studs more than once. They are different from those who only have one-time breedings with the studs.
The World Beyond:
The Forbidden Portal... A strange new portal that has been discovered...
As it turns out, it leads to a world which has a reality that's much more agreeable to the Shade than Sornieth. The new abominations and such bring a sense of relief to the Gaolitchshades and the Shade itself, as it is a sign of success: The Shade is spreading, and more Shade-esque creatures are pouring into Sornieth from the other side. Henceforth, Gaolitchshades have a natural affinity towards the foods and familiars found in the World Beyond.
Rumors speculate that the Forbidden Portal was one of many of the old dragons' attempts to dispel of the Shade: sealing roughly half of it in this foreign world far away from Sornieth, in order for the Gaolers to successfully seal much of the remaining Shade away with them as they took to their slumber...
Unfortunately, no one alive today can confirm or dispel the truth of the matter...
