KUJA

╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
Angel of Death
The Dark Messenger
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯
A powerful sorcerer who was made to be an "Angel of Death". Created by a being whose sole mission was to fuse its own planet with Sornieth, Kuja was born an adult, and initially had a lot of difficulty recognizing and controlling his emotions. Kuja tends to hide his emotions and insecurities behind a dramatic and egoistic facade.

He was placed upon Sornieth after the initial assimilation process failed in order to eradicate as many beings as possible by inciting wars across the planet. Being that Sornieth's population is naturally disposed toward war due the elemental differences between the continents, with each their own ruling God, Kuja's job was made much easier.

However, Kuja's unstable emotions caused his creator to deem him a faillure, and started working on a different being similar to Kuja, but it would start as a child, so it could be raised to control its emotions better. Enraged at essentially being replaced, Kuja abandoned the child deep within the Tangled Woods. At this act of rebellion, Kuja was banned from his original planet to roam Sornieth.

Unsatisfied with the hand he now had in the destruction of Sornieth, Kuja devised a plan of his own; he would take control of the deities theselves, the ones these creatures worshiped so. He would absorb their power, take it for himself, and rule both Sornieth and the planet he was supposed to revive.

He would not be a puppet in someone else's genocide for the so-called greater good. No, he would show everyone that he was better, that he was not a faillure. His creator would regret ever slighting him.

Unfortunately for him, the Eleven were not so easily usurped, and it took a long time before Kuja was able to steal any of their power away for himself. Millenia passed, and Kuja grew frustrated with his own lack of progress, patient though he may be.

His original creator loomed like a dark presence over his back. Something was coming. Time was running out.

Meeting Brenilde was his salvation.

A mystical creature who held unimaginable powers, even moreso than the Eleven themselves. Neither good nor evil, Brenilde simply travelled the univereses and dimentions in search of interesting events and people, provoking and resolving problems at her own whims.

Or at least, that's what she told him when she contacted him.

She'd been watching him for a while, and while at first this disturbed him a little, for he hadn't had a clue, she quickly gained his interest with her proposition:

She would give him the use of her and her power, in exchange for his company... and the entertainment that his actions brought her.

A foolish deal to many, but Kuja felt arrogant (and desperate), so he accepted.

With Brenilde by his side, collecting the powers of the Eleven was like taking candy from a baby. Her time related powers allowed them to slip in and out unnoticed, collecting artifacts, elemental stones, soul infused relics. Kuja absorbed it all, gaining their power and knowledge, and became more powerful than ever. He felt unstoppable, all-powerful. Even those pesky Eleven wouldn't stand a chance against him now.

But first he confronted his creator.

The barrier keeping him from his home planet was no match for his newfound might; he barreled through it like it was made of glass, not even a speck of dirt on his skin. He could do anything, with these kind of powers-!

When he reached his creator... they practically laughed in his face, and told him that, even if he tried to defeat them here, it wouldn't mean anything.

It would not matter, for Kuja would expire soon, quickened only by all the power he absorbed that was not his.

Kuja was mortal, and his time was just about up.

Enraged, Kuja flew into a frenzy, destroying the planet with his creator on it. How? How could he be mortal? How could he be mortal when he finally gained all this power? It couldn't be.

If he would have to die... then he would take everyone with him.

He returned to Sornieth, casting spells of his fury, raining death and despair. Many tried to fight him, but he wouldn't even glance at them before they perished under his rage, his power overwhelming.

Finally, the Eleven had had enough.

Kuja made a mistake in thinking the Eleven wouldn't be able to take him down, that their own powers would overwhelm them. No, instead, they manipulated their own powers within him, weakening attacks, rebounding them, driving him into a corner. Brenilde, even at his side now, was growing weaker with the barrage of attacks the Eleven brought upon them.

They lost, and Kuja felt his powers, as well as his life, drain away from him.

broken and battered on the ground, the Eleven left him and Brenilde to die. His vision was wavering. He felt cold.

He finally realized that he'd wasted his life chasing things that were never his to have. He never stopped to just enjoy the simple things, he only pushed on and on for his own gain. And for what? Just for him to die like a slaughtered pig?

Now he had nothing.

As everything faded to black, he regretted wasting his life, and wished he could try once more. One more chance. Please.

Brenilde lit up next to him.

And bright light washed over both of them.

Kuja woke up in a place he didn't recognize, but was quickly made aware of the lie Brenilde had told to get them a safe place to recover. He was heavily wounded, and unsure of how he was alive, but he chalked it up to his own power. That would show his creator for telling him lies.

Still, he was glad.

Maybe he could make something of this life he was given. Brenilde seemed happy to watch him recover for now, at least.

He had plenty of time to decide. Surely.
