The clan's local fishmonger, who has a business together with his husband, Twister. Aiming to sell the best seafood, Dirge uses his ice magic to keep fish cool and fresh. With his jovial and loud personality, he draws in costumers and is always eager to recommend the best fish, prawn, and other seafood for any occasion. He himself has a personal preference for frilled eels, and sometimes Twister has to talk him out of keeping the best ones for himself.
Despite being a fishmonger and having a husband who prefers to live in the water, however, Dirge has decidedly not overcome his natural fear of water. He struggles to even stand in shallow water, and has a miserable time with most conventional fishing methods. You may question why he even is a fishmonger, if he hates fishing so much, but see, that's where Twister comes in; while Twister swims around and catches fish the way only undertides can, Dirge catches whatever he's thrown, and immediately freezes the fish to preserve them, organizing them by size, kind, and taste. He also mans the boat if they go further into the sea, knowing his and Twister's trusty vessel inside and out (even if Twister rarely comes aboard).
It's a good system, in Dirge's opinion, and it works really well. He has his job, and Twister has his own, and they both excell at what they do. And, despite his fear of water, Dirge does really love watching Twister swim around; seeing his husband in his element is something beautiful to behold, and even if it means having to stand in the shallows, he'll gladly go out with Twister to any seas, rivers, ponds, and other bodies of water. It makes his husband happy, so it's worth it.
(Even if Twister reassures him it's fine if he doesn't come, he wants to. He wants to spend time together.)
Most of Dirge's time outside of fishing with Twister is spend on the Purring Winds' territory running his shop, and when he's not doing that, he enjoys milling about in the immediate area of the clan, doing some shopping himself among his fellow shopkeepers, or wandering the gardens. While he's not very good at it, he does enjoy decorating his and Twister's home with flowers and other plants, so he's always looking for tips from Emelin and Moistesis. While he's aware Twister has a harder time on land than in the sea, it does make him really happy with they can spend time together in the gardens or the shopping district. Although Twister never wants to hear it, Dirge does think his slithering on solid ground is utterly graceful and fascinating. He loves his seasnake husband, he really does.
