Clicking of heels could be heard throughout the castle. Why was Marquise in a rush? What could she possibly want? A woman sat upon a throne of ice. Her eyes watching Marquise closely as if debating. "Please...please take me in. I promise to be no trouble." Marquise cried to Kali. Marquise dropped to her knees pleading with her Aunt. Yet Kali sat there without saying a word. Her eyes watched for any signs that this was a trap.

"Another child of Brenilde I see." Kali finally spoke after what seemed like a long period of silence. Standing the Rifter walked towards Marquise placing a hand on her face. "What makes you think I would bring you in?" Her words seemed to cut Marquise to the core. "Please, I need somewhere safe." Marquise cried out. Kali's head tilted to the side watching the young woman cry. "What trouble have you brought to my door, Neice." Kali's eyes flickered away, "We shall see, I suppose. Nero will take you to your rooms. Do not make me regret this."

Marquise cried out in relief as Kali left her alone in the throne room. Why would Marquise come here? Kali never asked. Could it be a trap for Kali? Perhaps or perhaps Marquise really is looking for a safe place.
