A young but talented first-generation Veilspun, Dionysus is a gifted Water-born diviner. Commonly known by his nickname Dio around Home, he has quickly earned a reputation as the sort of divining talent that is seen only once in every few generations, with prophetic visions and dreams that started when he was only a hatchling. Known for being rather close-lipped about his prophetic talents, he isn't one to brag and typically keeps his gift to himself.

- Biography
Born in the Tsunami Flats, Dionysus is one of the many hatchlings displaced due to unrest following the Tidelord's disappearance several years ago. Hatchlings born with Multigaze in Water territories are often seen as bearing the Tidelord's blessing, and especially during a time when fewer and fewer Water dragons even believe the Tidelord is still looking after them at all, Dio's birth was seen as a sure sign of good favour. He was orphaned at a very young age and arrived at Home when he was still a hatchling. Quickly sorted into Helheim Hall when he came of age, he has little regard for rules and cares more about carving his own path in the world. Dio is known around Home as a brilliant dragon, but one who is difficult to get to know and who can be difficult to get along with.

- Life at Home
Dionysus' reputation as a brilliant student is well-earned, and most believe he would have been sorted into Niflheimr Hall had he been just a little bit better at getting along with the rules. Though he has never been known to get anywhere close to failing a class, he still skips classes habitually and rarely takes opportunities to tutor younger students (which is typical for Home's older residents). He is obviously gifted with the Sight, and though no dragons have been able to perform divine divination of the sort that was once typical for Water dragons in years, he has prophetic dreams and visions and is quickly learning how to interpret them. He easily becomes worried by these prophecies, and most of his friends know that his compulsive behaviour, seeking enjoyable activities over boring ones like going to class or studying, are ways to keep his mind from straying towards worrying about them too much.

- Relationships
Despite his somewhat prickly and arrogant nature, Dionysus is known around Home as a reasonably friendly and likeable dragon. His great love of cheesy puns and bad jokes endeared him quickly to his hallmates, and he gets on well with most other dragons in Helheim Hall. He's closest with those nearest his own age, particularly his best friends Maalik and Canaan. He is also good friends with Home's other divination students, especially Bruno and Amos. As a member of such a selective group as divination students (who are born, not made), Dio is uniquely indifferent to Hall pride and competition, and boasts friends from all Halls. One of the first generation of Veilspun born outside the Tangled Wood and re-integrated with the wider world, he's a bit sensitive about being an Ancient breed. He's friends with most of Home's other Ancients, and often self-appoints himself as a mentor to new Veilspun residents. This is something his Hall advisors strongly encourage, as it's one of the few times he'll take on additional responsibilities of his own volition (though they have to be careful with praise, as telling him they like him doing something is a surefire way to get him to stop doing it).

- Personality
Often gruff, no-nonsense, and irritable, Dionysus prefers to spend much of his time alone or with a few close friends. He can often come across as brusque, selfish, and somewhat self-absorbed, often appearing lost inside his own head. Despite how cold he often seems at first glance, Dio loves nothing more than a good time, and though he'll stubbornly deny it, he absolutely hates seeing other dragons upset or fighting. He works hard to be on good terms with just about everyone, and is a true friend to just about every dragon he knows, though it can be hard to get truly close to him. Though he treats others amiably, he tends to keep other dragons at arm's length. Gifted diviners like Dio are often haunted by the prophecies they receive and interpret, and Dio's no different. Some diviners are predisposed to happy prophecies, and Dio's tend to run in the opposite direction. He tends to become easily shut-off or lost in thought after prophetic episodes, and though he's getting much better at interpretation, it's hard to shake the fear and worry that comes when he doesn't know what his visions mean. He often worries about being unable to prevent something bad happening to those he's closest to. When they can get past his closed-off exterior, though, the other dragons at Home know Dio to be a loyal friend and a dragon who is always ready with a good joke to cheer you up.
