Biography

Siebog attended Astifora Academy to become a mentor (you can read all about it below.) As he grew up and graduated, he left his family with Castrella his elder sister, in search of finding a lair to settle in as well as fulfilling his duty as a fresh, young mentor.
He is an exceptional mage, who excelled academically and to this day, is still quite boastful of it.

One day, Siebog was out venturing in out through the Southern Icefield, when a Banescale found him lurking about. It stared at him from the cliff above with its hard steely eyes. Suddenly its wings were outstretched and it gave a sharp warning cry. Siebog, feeling extra arrogant that day decided to ignore it and continue on his search for ice rocks.
The Banescale gave him an even deadlier look as a second Banescale of similar appearance approached from behind it. Both had their wings and claws outstretched and made a dash at Siebog. The blow instantly knocked him down. His healing spells could not keep up with the damage he was taking. He cursed under his breath as he got back up unsteadily.
"Castrella! Anyone?" He called.
He lifted his wings and took off but the Banescales were catching up.
"Ugh they're so persistent" he grumbled as he sped up. Siebog had almost spent all his mana on healing and was starting to feel drowsy. This is not good, he thought. The Banescales fired at him, sending Siebog hurtling through the Arcane forests.
He lay on the forest floor unmoving. He closed his eyes, waiting for the final blow.
A different cry erupted from the sky. It sounded like a Banescale, yet different in a way he could not explain. Siebog opened his eyes. What he saw amazed him.
A sky blue crystalline Nocturne was attacking the Banescales. It had fiery amber eyes. It mimicked the cries of the Banescales quite well. It fired at the Banescales which strangely backed them off.
The Nocturne looked at him.
"Idiot," she said perfectly in his voice.
Siebog was dumbfounded. He still couldn't get over how well Nocturnes could mimic others. But most of all, he had never been called an "idiot" before until now.
The Nocturne took off, disappearing into the sky.

On this particular day, Siebog was strolling around the forest when there was a low rumble of thunder. It started to rain. But it was not normal rain; it was Arcane rain. No one but dragons of the Arcane flight were immune to the rain. Siebog continued is stroll nonchalantly. Suddenly, he heard a sharp cry from the forest clearing. The Nocturne that had saved him before was out in the open, slowly disintegrating from the rain. Siebog immediately rushed over and summoned his magic to create a shield for the Nocturne. She fell unconscious.
When the sky cleared,

Whew! Made it! It was touch-and-go for a while there flying all this way with so many tomes and scrolls. Who knew the Starfall Isles were so vast? Welcome to Sornieth, youngling! I'm your mentor and I'll help you in your studies of Lore and Roleplay. I've spent many sleepless nights at the Astifora Academy transcribing copies of some of the greatest resources in Sornieth! Uh... please don't tell the school that I grabbed a few of the originals -- just until I finish transcribing them! ...Oh! You want to know about the school? Of course!

High above the Starwood Strand you'll find the Astifora Academy, the learning place of the Mentor Dragons. The academy was built on a piece of the Focal Point that broke off long ago. Thanks to Spacedad - I mean, the Arcanist -- the whole of the Starfall Isles pulses with magic, and this floating bit of rock is no different. Eventually it drifted so high they thought the school had disappeared but it was just hiding behind a cloud. Thanks to the mages of the Starspire Court the island was tethered so that they could always find it.

Flying to the Astifora Academy might be a tiring trip, especially when carrying tomes that may or may not be older than your grandparents, but from such a height you can see almost the whole of Sornieth. To the south, the glistening waters of Windstar Bay and westward, the Crystalspine Reach looks like curved, pink teeth ready to swallow the Observatory. You might just be (un)lucky enough to catch sight of some toxic fume or another erupting from the Wyrmwound, or the great Pillar of the World in the distance.

Steeped in magic, the island is home to many oddities concocted by the curious and the talented, such as the Never-Ending Falls, which cascade down on the Starwood below. Though it hovers well above the rainy clouds the pools and waterfall are never out of water to splash, so be careful! Wouldn't want those precious books to get wet, would we? Plants of all sorts grow wild here, or barely contained in the many gardens and greenhouses; there's also no shortage of wildlife above the clouds.

To start, why not choose a name for your newly founded clan? The right name can unite an otherwise motley crew of dragons, or set the tone for an adventure! Your mind's blank, you say? Never fear, I have just the thing! This magical scroll has been a great help for many a clan. Mind you there's a chance it might come up with something quite strange. Choose wisely... or not so wisely. You can always change it later. It's not uncommon for a clan to go through a variety of names during their existence.

The Astifora Academy resembles an impressive castle, towers reaching even further into the sky and to the Starwood below. Carved from the rock itself, the castle sparkles in the day and glows softly at night.

There are many places to explore within the castle and on the island. From the quiet corners like the Reader's Garden, to social spaces like the amphitheater, Murmuring Spire, or the Landing Rock where newcomers arrive and others depart on their journey home, spreading their knowledge to every corner of Sornieth. The libraries here are some of the best (and have some of the strictest librarians!) but if you're looking for the science and practical magic departments you'll have to venture to the depths of the castle. After that incident with the Bush Rates everyone decided it was best to keep those departments separate from the communal spaces.

Hm? What incident you say? Uh, well … oh! Look at the time! We'd better get a move on, yes? Lot's to learn!

___ __ Whether you are creating lore just for yourself or preparing to venture into the RP forums, it's sometimes best to start small. Pick one dragon in your clan that you want to keep around and who inspires you, record as many details about them as you can! It doesn't need to look fancy, and you can start anywhere that leads you to new ideas. Maybe pick a name or design an outfit, even if you don't have the apparel there's always the Dressing Room.

Still having trouble? Take a peek at this scroll I may have, possibly, temporarily borrowed from the Academy! I just need to finish making a copy and then we can use it and I can return the original with no one the wiser! At least, I hope no one noticed! I don't want late fees!

___ Writing lore is one thing, but what about making it look good, too? With a little bit of BBCode know-how, and some graphics you can really show-off your work. There are lots of free-to-use graphics, or commission something unique in the Art forum. Always consider design, as well as functionality when building a layout. An RP dragon should have a clear and orderly layout so your partner(s) can learn what they need quickly and easily. You can create a thread just for your clan's lore in the Creative Corner, mark it as personal if you prefer people not to read, or open it for advice and feedback.

"This here is our Subspecies Discovery Lab! Feel free to have a look in any of the rooms, unless they have a "Do Not Disturb" sign, you definitely don't want to go in there... New subspecies are popping up all the time and our scientists are eager to learn about each one. If you make a discovery they'd love to study your findings!"

Subspecies are user-made dragon groups with unique lore, which often include specific colors, genes, and sometimes breeds. All subspecies have distinct origins that shape who they are and what they might become. Inspiration can come from a flight's deity, indigenous flora or fauna, official flight lore, or wherever your imagination takes you! Each flight has their own subspecies, but depending on the lore sometimes a subspecies can belong to two or more flights.

Subspecies don't have to be official, but if you want to share your creation and have others breed your subspecies, you can submit your idea to the Subspecies Hub. This involves collecting your written lore, a description and example of such dragons into a thread or google doc and presenting it to the Arcane subspecies committee. Ahh! This sounds intimidating!

Don't fret! The committee is always happy to discuss ideas if you're nervous, or even give feedback on early drafts; just pop into the Hub and give us a ping or send a private message. You can also post your idea in the forums for more widespread critique that might help you add those finishing touches. This might sound like a lot of work and stress, but the advantage to an official subspecies is it can give hatchlings a boost in popularity on the dragon market as some players like to collect dragons with special lore. The Hub also allows you to ping users interested in hatchlings from a particular subspecies!
