~
Growing up in a family crammed together in one of the many river houses that dot the Gladeveins, Leavitt longed for an escape, for some peace and quiet apart from her many siblings. She eventually found it in the stars, leaving the crowded, humid house to peek at the sky. Unfortunately, the tangled growth of the Viridian Labyrinth is sustained by regular thunderstorms and a vicious monsoon season, natural enemies of the diligent astronomer. As soon as she was old enough to strike out on her own, she headed for the drier climes of the Sunbeam Ruins.

Among the athenaeums of Lanternlea, Leavitt found the mentors she needed to become an academic, but it was at the saloons of the Colonnades that she learned to argue like one. Determined to establish herself as a renowned scholar of the stars, she’s a mostly nocturnal resident of Tenebris Grove. Her daytime excursions are short, pointed, and grumpy. Better to try to catch her attention on a night when she’s not conducting research. Which is always, so better to talk to Pickering instead.

Pickering
An astronomer and an astrologer are an unusual pair, but Pickering and Leavitt make it work by both being uncommonly academic.They met when they both tried to check out the same reference material from a library in Lanternlea. A heated argument on who deserved the records of astrological movement more turned into a lengthy discussion about their respective fields. After Pickering bumbled his way around a few astronomy conferences, ostensibly to add more rigor to his charts but really in hopes of bumping into Leavitt, the pair started going steady. The move to Dragonhome was decided by the dry climate and infrequent cloud cover, and the pair have been happily ensconced in an ever growing collection of books and hatchlings ever since.
