Biography
Backstory: Rosette prophesied that Leonardo would be an artist before he hatched. Altitude had gleefully believed that meant his son would be a poet like himself. Callora thought that witches were technically artists because they were masters of the dark arts and crafts so she was expecting that her daughter would be a witch.
Sadly, Leonardo never met either of their expectations. The coatl dragon could never make words flow together like his father nor could preform any of the spells his mother could do with ease. Altitude still wanted to push Leonardo to pursue the literary arts and planned on giving him private four-hour lessons each day. Fortunately for Leonardo, his mother had convinced Altitude to refrain from forcing Leonardo to be a poet because she remembered how awful her childhood had been when own mother had forced her to be the Lightweaver’s perfect soldier. Callora assured Leonardo that she would love him no matter what he became and that she would force Altitude to continue to love him no matter what as well.
Days later, Leonardo came back from the Aquafire Clan’s daycare with a piece of paper he held close to his chest. He presented the paper to parents like one would present a crown to their king. One side of the paper was blank, but on the other side Leonardo had painted a picture of Callora and Altitude flying against the backdrop of a sunset with water colors. The picture was incredibly beautiful and realistic. Callora and Altitude couldn’t believe that a hatchling had painted it and were touched that Leonardo had chosen to paint such a beautiful picture of them.
Leonardo’s parents realized that their child was definitely an artist, just not the kind of artist they had anticipated. Callora and Altitude provided Leonardo with all the brushes and paper the coatl would need to improve his skills. Callora made it her duty to make sure that Leonardo didn’t feel pressured to be anything. Pretty soon, Leonardo was painting elaborate murals on the sides of the Aquafire Clan’s den. Dragons from all over Sornieth would come to buy his paintings. Leonardo donated a lot of his money to charity so he could still bring peace to Sornieth in some way like his fellow members of the Aquafire Clan.
Personality: Leonardo is very energetic and his excitement is very contagious. The coatl dragon often uses his fury tail as a paint brush and shouts “ba-bam” whenever he adds the final touch to his painting. Fortunately, he is extremely humble and never boast about his artist abilities. The coatl dragon is a little shy around dragons he doesn’t know well. Leonardo can also be very timid at times and worrisome (especially for those he cares about). Family and close friends call him “Nardo” for short.
Clan Position: Painter
Mate: Skysweeper
Familiar: Autumn‘s forest was burned down by radical children of the Flamecaller. Leon and Nira, knowing the dryad’s horrific past, allowed the her to stay in the Aquafire Clan for as long as she liked. Autumn had planned staying for only a month or too. However, the dryad became friends with so many of the dragons and their familiars that made Autumn feel right at home in the Aquafire Clan. Leonardo is one of Autumn’s closest dragon friends. The familiar is naturally very chill and helps Leonardo remember to take a break from painting and relax. Leonardo would probably have worked himself to death if it wasn’t for Autumn by now if it wasn’t for Autumn. The dryad also helps make paints for Leonardo by grinding up certain rocks and plant leaves.
