Dragon Log

Along with her brother, she journeyed from the Plague Clan soon after her birth. Her pearl and her coloration (green for Water and red for Fire) meant that she could only choose one name. Currently, she is exploring the possibility of a family with Nightsedge. It is not likely to be permanent, however. There are several other male dragons in the lair she has her eye on...and plenty of time to choose.

9-2-14: Her friend the Luna Mith has Awakened! She is very excited, and taking some time to play with her beloved companion...

9-5-14: After having successfully helped to awaken a lovely Luna Mith, Soulfire has added a new friend to her repertoire: a Mock Firebird, who speaks to her more literal side, as the Mith spoke to her soul. Perhaps next time she will try to bond with a creature from her original clan...

12-2-14: The Mock Firebird has Awakened! Soulfire is quite pleased with herself. She is pleased for her friend as well--though she does wish he would come down and stop flying victory laps around the caves.....

2-3-15: The Mock Firebird has gone off exploring... but not before introducing Soulfire to a creature from her own Birth Element: A Yellow-Throated Sparrowmouse. Soulfire is intrigued by the cute little bird....

4-4-15: That cute little bird has grown into a fierce companion... and now he has Awakened completely, he is looking to help defend Soulfire's hoard.... or perhaps he simply wants to steal something shiny?

10-28-15: Being a dragon born into Plague Flight does have its drawbacks.... and its advantages--and sometimes it is hard to tell which is which! While on a quick trip back to her birth Flight for the Riot of Rot, Soulfire attracted the attention of a curious Deadland Disciple, who clearly had recognized a former child of Plague. Neither she nor her other companions are sure how to feel about this, but one thing is certain: this familiar is here to stay!

11-6-15: Recently the Clan got caught up in an interesting Spooky Spree in the Tangled Wood, enjoying themselves immensely, and Soulifre was no exception... ( , , )

A compliment to her costume, a delightful conversation, and several nice treats...All in all, a quite satisfying experience for Soulfire...

1-24-16: The Deadland Disciple has Awakened! Soulfire is happy for her companion, though she isn't really sure what the odd familiar wants to do now.....

1-26-16: Soulfire has decided to enter the 2016 Sornieth Winter Games at the Ice Festival! The Clan is a little startled by this decision, as no one had realized that she was interested at all in competing, but she seems happy enough with her decision.... ( )

1-27-16: Soulfire did not win the competition, but her artistry in creating a beautiful glowing image of the Icewarden out of her ice block has impressed the entire Clan. They were especially wowed by the way she showed the dragon blending into the “mountain” he was sitting on, and the way she timed it so that the setting sun caused the block to glow just as the judges arrived. It seems that this little Pearlcatcher has some hidden depths....

3-22-16: All familiars eventually grow tired--some much faster than others. Soulfire's Deadland Disciple, Blight, has decided to rest for a time in the Vault, and work on some new diseases--er, designs. The young Pearlcatcher wishes her friend well--though she is staying far away from that area of the Hoard....

7-11-17: Soulfire's dual interests in soul and spirit magic has borne an unexpected, and not entirely wanted, result. An Undying Featherback that had only recently followed Duskshadow's Coli team home from the Arena became fascinated with a Pearlcatcher dragon that played with such magic, and began to bond with her. The bond in question is incredibly strong, and it is likely that he will be around, and active, for a good long time before retiring to the Vault.

This in itself would not have been that much of a problem--although several dragons have been muttering about Plague dragons getting all the best familiars--except for one thing: Fawkes, the Mock Firebird, cannot stand being bonded to a creature tied to the world of "darkness." Though not a true firebird, he IS a Phoenix, and thus a creature tied to the "Light," (as well as the element of Fire) and the paradoxical magic link of being tied to a "Dark" creature is too much for him to bear. To the shock of the entire Clan, he has fled his dragon!

He made it clear that he still likes Soulfire, and will try to visit when the Featherback isn't around, but he simply cannot abide having a primary bond with her any longer. Instead, he has joined--and bonded to--JKR, the Clan's oldest Snapper. Soulfire and her familiar “family” are reeling from the shock and pain of a blocked--though fortunately not severed--bond, but she cannot blame him for his choice, and the Featherback's strengthening link is helping to make things easier...

9-1-17: In an effort to encourage Soulfire to forget--or at least more easily accept--Fawkes' choice, Duskshadow decreed that the older Pearlcatcher would be one of those who traveled to the Ashfall Waste for the Flameforger's Festival. The effort appears to have had mixed results. While a certain Ember Toss Game has definitely distracted the Mage from her missing Firebird, now she is determined to win herself a firebird in a bottle, of all things.... ( )

9-2-17: Soulfire was quite pleased with her results. Not only did she acquire the coveted Firebird Bottle, she got several other beautiful bottles for her Trophy Shelf as well, and some nice official prizes, too! The Clan is very happy to see that the usually cheerful Pearlcatcher has begun to smile again...and her new experiments with trying to coax magical fire to burn inside a bottle full of water are certainly interesting....

10-9-17: It was a difficult bonding, and even now Soulfire is still not sure how she feels about her newest "companion," but for better or for worse the journey has reached its next level: The Undying Featherback has Awakened! The Clan is watching with uneasy eyes to see what he will do next, but Soulfire, at least, seems content with the new status quo--and maybe now that he's older, the undead boar will be able to control his aura and Fawkes won't mind visiting. They'll just have to wait and see...

1-4-18: Today Soulfire's prizes from the Ember Toss were officially delivered to the Clan, along with her beautiful bottles. Soulfire is absolutely thrilled at all her new acquisitions...and the Burning Firebird in the Rare Bottle has gone a long towards easing her pain at Fawkes "abandonment" -- that and JKR's repeated assurances that Soulfire and she are sharing the Phoenix, and JKR has no problems at all with Soulfire playing with him any time she wants to. In the meantime, however, the beautiful Pearlcatcher is proudly showing off both her bottles and the pretty Ornate Copper Necklace that came along with them....

8-27-18: Something seems to be happening to the Mages of the Clan this Festival, and the Clan is becoming quite intrigued. It seems that the more bountiful magic spreading across Sornieth is having an effect upon the very air surrounding certain dragons. Soulfire is the latest in a string of Pearlcatchers to acquire a Conflagrant Halo...but her affinity to water has not been neglected by this magical change by any means, as she now has a Diver Emblem as well....

10-3-18: Soulfire is having a number of interesting experiences lately. Only a few moonturns after developing several physical representations of her magic, the Water/Fire Mage has stumbled upon a new familiar bonding...with a Mimic Bear! Soulfire cannot figure out why the bear was so desiring of a bond, especially as his magical affinities do not appear to be in any of her own primary elements, but he was quite insistent, even going so far as to follow her half-way around the caves this morning...

1-8-19: It appears that incompatible magic does not in any way mean an incompatible friendship--at least, not with this pair. Soulfire and her bear are extremely happy together, and now the Thornthick Thief has Awakened! Soulfire is thrilled at her companion’s new energy, and waiting eagerly to see what he plans to do with this magical boost...

5-30-19: During a trip to the Greenskeeper Gathering this year, Soulfire was distracted by a very curious window. It seemed to almost to move as she watched, and the longer she stared at it, the more intrigued she became. After all, she is an artist, and this window definitely appeared to have been made with magic by a dragon with a very interesting artistic bent…. ( )

4-10-20: Soulfire got a bit of a pleasant surprise today, when her old friend "Blight," the Deadland Disciple, abruptly returned from the Vault. He seems none the worse for his long sojourn away, and much to his Pearlcatcher's relief he did not bring any of the diseases he was creating inside the Vault back with him. In fact, he does not seem to be as interested in creating diseases as he was before. Perhaps it was only a faze that he has now outgrown? The Clan can only hope...

5-28-20: Soulfire has decided to take a little journey, and join the queue of dragons at the Bottled Boats Stall eagerly attempting to acquire a special ship for their Trophy Shelves. In her case, she would really, really, like a Ghost Ship, to speak to both her Soul and Spirit Magic…though really, any fancy boat would be fine… ( )

5-29-20: Well, she didn’t get her Ghost Ship, but Soulfire is very happy to have a nice Cruise Ship to link with her learned Water Magic. (And the other boats are nice, too.) And the Ghost Maren is more than welcome to settle in the Pearlcatcher’s favorite pool. All the Fire/Water Mage has to do now is figure out what she's going to do with that Mantarune that also followed her home…
