Biography

____________________________
Vesta
Hearth Priestess
Flamerest Embers
_____ ↠ Gender: female
↠ Orientation: lesbian
↠ Breeding: Zorya
↠ Lover: Zorya

↠ Alignment: Neutral Good
↠ Birthclan: the Dolman Clan
↠ Birthplace: Blacksand Annex
↠ Faction: Priesthood

━━━━━━━ Role ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Vesta is a prestiess of an aspect of the Flamecaller. With her companion Zorya, both of them tend to a number of sacred tasks (among other things: cultivating the Flamerest Embers that is used to heat and light the city, purifying tainted items and persons, as well as celebrating unions approved by the clan's matchmaker).

Vesta guards the sacred embers at the altar during the morning/day shift, while Zorya takes evening/night shifts.

━━━━━━━ Background ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Vesta was born in the Dolman clan of the Blacksand Annex, where her mother is the clan's fire Mage while her father serves as a historian.

She picked up an interest for theological studies early on, as well as the correlations between elemental magic, dragon deities, and the Shade. During her formative years she got initiated into a cult of devotees to the more protective aspect of the Flamecaller in order to become a Hearth Priestess.

The college of priestesses was open to welcoming transfeminine members in this all-female cult, and she completed her formation with great honor. Afterwards however she developped a romantic bond with another priestess and they broke their vows, which got them both expelled.

The two priestesses took refuge in the Caravanserai Old City, where they were allowed to set up permanently in the subterranean temple. There they continue their Fire-led spiritual path, their faith gaining traction among the working class in the clan.

As the Old City got destroyed by the loose Emperor roaming in the Sunbeam Ruins, the clan fled to the south. When the capital city was rebuilt as Moshkaran at the border of the Carrion Canyon and the Ashfall Waste, Vesta and Zorya's new temple to the Lady of the Hearth became one of the main sanctuaries around.

━━━━━━━ Relations ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

35947360p.png Vesta and Zorya are one of the most iconic high-profile public couples of Moshkaran. Their story has become widely known to the local population and has garnered a lot of sympathy, to the point that it has inspired quite the number of romance novels around the themes of forbidden love as well as dragons fighting against tradition, even though Vesta and Zorya's branch of the Flamecaller's faith has been well-established for a while at this point.

━━━━━━━ Hatchling Lore ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This section is intended for Lore lairs that got dragons from this pair, and it details what kind of environment the hatchlings may have grown into. It's only intended for inspiration, so feel free to disregard these suggestions and make your own plans! Let me know if you've given lore to any of my hatchlings so I can link them here.

Hatchlings from Vesta and Zorya receive little education from their loving yet distant parents: the parents' duties in the temple keep them quite busy and unable to care for the hatchlings as much as they'd like.

The pair is also still affected by the rapture of their first clutch at the hands of Hearth Priestesses in their former temple. The guilt of failing as parents still lingers on them both, making them fearful and distant around their present-day offsprings - particularly in the case of Zorya (the most difficult and temperamental of the two), while the most gentle Vesta would more readily express her motherly love if prompted.

Hatchlings born of this pair commonly have an affinity with Fire regarless of their actual Flight, and keeping their emotions and impulses under control is often a struggle for them. A gift for magic also frequently appears in the bloodline, although not all choose to pursue this path.
