Arian
Pyrochemist
Sapper & Burglar
Mate of None
Firestarter Fine Woodsculpt

Like his two siblings, Arian hatched separated from his birth parents in a temple dedicated to a protective aspect of the Flamecaller.

Once honored members of the priesthood, the mothers broke their vows, which resulted in one nest laid into the secrecy of the temple. The college of Hearth priestesses expelled both parents, confiscating and caring for the eggs at the heart of the sanctuary.

As these had been infused with potent divine energy in the womb and during incubation, the High Priestess that led the college decided this would be a perfect opportunity to raise the most gifted Fire devotees ever seen.

However, it was revealed upon hatching that only one offspring turned out female, and the cult did not allow male dragons to stay; therefore only their sister remained as a child of the temple, while the male hatchlings were sent away when they were still young. To avoid questions about the origins of the clutch and preserve the reputation of the temple, it was decided to dispatch the two brothers into distinct foster homes.

Arian's care was entrusted to a craftsmen's guild in need of apprentices. A master metallurgist sensed potential in him and took him under his guidance.

The teachings helped Arian channel the raw Fire magic in his blood into a trade, creating tinctures as well as altering metals and other materials. Magic was the most fascinating aspect of the craft to him, and he would often sneak into his master's laboratory to tinker with components and spells, occasionally causing trouble and headaches to his mentor.

After a few years, the young dragon's training was interrupted when his master met an untimely death at the hand of a criminal organization. These thugs forced our apprentice into their service, seeking to employ his talents for their own business, using his skills to alchemically break into safes - making him an accomplice in the robbery of rich lairs. While reluctant at first and sharing no love for his captors, Arian found this life exciting and it allowed him to practice his magic with few restrictions.

Everything changed one day, when the criminal organisation he worked for got involved with a local gang war and nearly wiped out by a rival guild. He barely made it out alive and had to disappear in order to survive. He was free at last, though; the time had come to leave for new horizons...

While Arian retains some early memories of his siblings, so far he has been more concerned with his pyrochemical endeavours than investigating his past. Secretely he may hope to find a home or family of his own, but it has become hard for him to trust others since they've never seemed to stick around in his life. His hardships and experiences in the more disenfranchised part of dragon society have definitively turned him into a pragmatic, his views tainted by moral ambiguity and a heavy dose of cynicism.

[Feel free to return this dragon to his parents' lair instead of exalting, if you no longer want him!]

Ideas for continued lore and his role in the clan/lair:
- Since the clan mainly focuses on developing and perfecting fire and metal related crafts, they have early given him access to his own workplace and helping him get his hands on any materials he needs. The trade off is to be the mentor for hatchlings born in the lair that shows talent and interest for his craft. There is no set amount or frequency of youngsters to mentor. Most of the time he will have time to work on his own projects and alone if he wishes to.
- Ideas for dragons he can connect with and develope relationships with: Adelie (might even become future mate to father the next in line for the leader role) and Custis (who has a high interest in chemistry related to explotions, firework, smoke, sparks etc)
