Malorne’s egg came into being while her parents, Screechfang and Skytail, were on a diplomatic mission in the Scarred Wasteland, resulting in her having Plague flight affiliation rather than Lightning flight affiliation like her family. The bureaucratic nature of Lightning officials has prevented her parentage from being “officially” claimed, but Malorne knows who her parents are, and Screechfang and Skytail regularly assure her that they love her just as much as their Lightning children.

The unique circumstances of Malorne’s flight affiliation have been an inspiration to her, and she has worked hard to become a powerful Plague mage. Now that she’s all grown up, she can channel disease as well as any Plague mage who was born and raised in the Scarred Wasteland. She’s very powerful, and frequently slinks off to practice her magics. While she does make jokes about cursing her clanmates with a cold, she has never actually done so; Malorne would like to focus her Plague magic for defensive uses to protect her clan.

Secretly, Malorne does harbor some insecurities about the fact that her parents aren’t her parents “on paper”. She knows they love her, and she knows she is indeed their biological daughter. But she’s run into some bureaucratic troubles over the years because of it, and whenever she does, she feels like the officials are just rubbing in her face that the circumstances of her origins are unusual and she’s different from the rest of her siblings. One of Malorne’s goals in life is to become powerful and notable enough to draw attention to herself, in hopes that this will force the officials to change her records.

Malorne has a strong desire and instinct to protect her family. She would willingly lay down her life for any of her siblings, and is always ready to jump into battle at their defense at a moment’s notice. This especially so applies to Suvi. Perhaps there’s something about Suvi’s soft and kind nature that drives Malorne to want to protect her more, or perhaps it’s just sisterly instinct. Whatever the case, Suvi prefers Malorne’s protection to Rosvirein’s, as Malorne is actually willing to give Suvi space and leave her to her own devices, while still keeping an eye on her from plenty afar just in case.
