Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this Firebird wandered a little too far from home, and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. Please refrain from exalting her!

Important note: Please only trade this dragon on traveling dragon threads, as opposed to places such as the Auction House.

(I came from Calib's lair! If you don't want me and can't find me a new home, please send me back home (or to the rest hub).
Thank you!)

Phoenix would like to receive a permanent home someday, so if you'd like to adopt her after she's been travelling long enough, just let her owner know!

Phoenix had been travelling for a while, but one day she found herself lost. She ended up stuck for a while until she finally reached a clan that'd let her in.

She didn't necessarily feel like staying in this clan, but considering she doubted she could find her way home, she decided to let this clan be her new home lair... for now, anyway. She wanted a place she could live in one day, but it certainly didn't have to be here. This was just a place she could go if she needed.

When Phoenix tried to make it to her next destination, the town of Corrosionius, she got lost in the Tallowbark Forrest, a forest of trees made of melted flesh and fat. She feared that would never escape. Then she spotted a path in the forest. After a steep climb, Phoenix found a strange mask. It was made of cracked bone and was feathered at the top. She felt strangely compelled to put it on, and when she did, the world began to spin. She felt her mind swirl and bend with the powers of Plague. She felt the powers of infection course through her veins and her mind.

She was reborn as a vector of long extinct plague, and now travels only to spread it.

She didn’t stay long in Clan Burning Fantasies. They gave her enough to survive then sent her on her way, some of their dragons are extremely old and recognized the danger of the plague she possesses.

Phoenix stayed for a few days in the Helianthus Haven inn, successfully sickening a number of dragons before the clan's doctors - many of them raised or trained in the Plague Flight themselves - realized they could trace all the infections back to her. When the Pearlcatcher and the Ridgeback came for her - apparently unsuspecting of her new nature, they approached her with questions about how she was feeling, and where she'd been - she gave them the slip and fled, taking to the skies. She was not going to prevented from spreading the infection.

Phoenix found herself thwarted again while in the Sunbeam Ruins. Her erratic actions caught the attention of the Necromancer Aceso, who worked as a healer in the area. The female Nocturne called out to her, offering aid. The plague inside Phoenix reacted to the presence of the Necromancer and her entourage. Her blood grew hot and compelled her to cry out. Confused, Phoenix fled, unsure of whether the Nocturne truly meant to help or not.

Phoenix, perhaps regaining some control over her body, flew back to the town where she was cursed to begin with. She tried to fight the contagion destroying her mind and body, but it was no use. She was stuck, broken and warped, into an ungodly horror.
She wandered through the town, until she found a Luminous Reaper and his son. They were looking for a malevolent spirit that was terrorizing the cattle, but they found a different one. Bloodmark could see that she was cursed, and, despite the overwhelming sickness surrounding her, reached up to the mask and tried to pull it off. Phoenix hissed and ran away, but Hezrul tackled her to the ground.

With one strong pull, he tore the cursed mask from her head, along with the majority of her face.

Phoenix awoke, reborn again.

But the disease still follows her. It will be forever apart of her.
52122154858_d0c44fcc81_o.png

Now lost of what she was seeking, she wandered the Scarred Wasteland, avoiding any settlements, be it dragonkind or beastclan. She walked and flied, feeling tired emptiness inside, trying to understand herself. Until she realised she was traveling through foothills, and there's no way further. There's a cliff she couldn't climb.
It was there she was spotted by Rankhanu's pack, coming back from the hunt. No, the Mirror didn't take pity on her nor gave her any food. Instead she pointed up to the rock. It sounded almost as "go jump from the cliff if you're so weak" for your Tundra dragon. But strangely, there was no offend in it. She was harsh, but somehow friendly.
Phoenix taken a rest, Mirrors were gone. Emptiness inside her insisted she won't make it. In sudden protest, she spread her wings and took off.
She thought she's going to die there. Soon exhaustion blocked her mind and her sences. There was only her target. She must fly up. She forgot everything else, threw it away like ballast.

They've met her atop the cliff.

Raurayuki brought Phoenix to life and placed her on a distant bamboo isle for a while, Tarsonah surrounded her with firm songs and flower talismans, and Aurigahasei provided with the best food. When she was asked who is she, she realised she has nothing to say. She almost died there, and after resting and trying to come up with whom she wants to be, she knew the answer. No, she doesn't want to become something final. She wants to live, and life is a spiral of changes, a torrent of micro deaths.

Distant and gloomy, she was so controversal to her appearance it became a proverb in the Monastery.

They trained her, and she liked being a warrior and asked for more.

And then there was a Starfall Celebration, many younglings were to be exalted, many games and festivities in the clan. They gifted her -- now a trainer herself -- with a new name Yannrey, which sounds like phoenix: strong, but playful flame, and dancing shadows spreading out; and she found herself talking and listening about unseen places and travels and observing the stars with others. The disease that sits inside her received it's new name too: Longing for Freedom, and Phoenix now knows: to find freedom in this severe, changing world one must be brave enough to die, and to live-- and to be oneself.
52122154858_d0c44fcc81_o.png

Phoenix felt weary. Even if she had been reborn, she was still frightened to be her true self. What if she was infected again, or rejected by someone who thought her still carrying the plague? She traveled for some time before discovering a garden glen for traveling dragons such as herself. Much to her surprise, it only took one look from the Caretaker of this beautiful place, a skydancer called Axolotl, for him to see the sorrow and grief within her eyes. He immediately took her under his wing, pampering her with treats and regaling her with stories of faeries and other happy creatures. Phoenix nearly cried from his kindness, as well as the other dragons that were visiting there, but she knew the truth. If Axolotl only knew her history, he would treat her differently.

She stayed for quite some time, soaking in the sunshine and the friendly atmosphere, enjoying every minute. But the longer she stayed, the more she risked them discovering the truth about her. Even if she no longer carried the plague, it would haunt and scar her for eternity. She left after giving her goodbyes to her new friends.
52122154858_d0c44fcc81_o.png

Restored after her last stop and new friends, Phoenix traveled to the Arcane lands in the hopes of finding some idea of what to do next. She kept to herself but ended up traveling with the studious Stonecoil. It was nice to meet someone who was too interested in research to ask uncomfortable personal questions. The two of them forged the kind of itinerary friendship that one can only find on the road. Phoenix worked through her feelings in battle while Stonecoil studied during the morning, and in the afternoon the companions would work together to gather plants. Phoenix wasn't much of a gardener or gatherer, but Stonecoil was very pleased with the unique flora that she won from the coliseum!

Phoenix can train a pair of dragons in the Coliseum. At level 17, she can do Waterway and Arena comfortably. Use Haste and Rally first, gather up 35+ Breath with Scratches, hitting each enemy, one by one, then Eliminate all.
