Description
Tempest is the sanctuary's empress and she is the ever-present watcher who keeps the clan safe. This Imperial is one with few enemies and vast connection of allies. Her vigilance has no bounds and she protects her clan with a mix ferocity and love. Sporting twice the strength and size of her kind, she is successful at her role. The other skills that she lays claim are her full control of the air around her. Tempest can call tornados with a roar or summon a strong gale with a single hiss. Despite all of her strength, she is still a mother who often takes care of orphaned hatchlings.
Backstory
Imperials were born of the flesh and bone of the ending of an age. Tempest's Parents were some of the last of these old beings. They found a place where their hatchlings could grow strong and raised the clutch high above the Windswept Plateau on one of the many platforms that that dotted the Twisting Crescendo. When she hatched she left the nest almost immediately her body growing strong like the winds that whipped around her.
Her flesh and bone became like the angry winds and with a roar she called to the world her cry of defiance. She told the world with that call her name is Tempest Daughter of the Roaring Winds. From that day onward she was one with the raging storm. As she matured she taught herself to sing by lifting her voice to the heavens. Some dragons even to this day hear her voice and believe her to be the voice of the Twisting Crescendo. Her songs in those days filled the air like an ancient song that almost all could hear.
Over her first century she found, not only she could sing but she could fight with the strength of two males of her species She was part of a few wars and has assisted in killing an Emperor. Yet it was becoming hollow to her after about four hundred years. She saw the world now she only wanted to find a clan that could use her strength and skill, and maybe have hatchlings of her own.
One day her fervent wish came true, first she found then clan and soon came to lead it. Then when the clan was still young she found her daughter Penelope. Though the Coatl is blind Tempest loves the little dragon as if she was her own. Lastly, she met Akihiko and they became friends then the closest of lovers. The two Imperial spend most of their time together though Akihiko does not lead he shares her tittle.
"The attack" as the clan calls it, Tempest calls it what is an attack of the shade. She remembers the darkness striking the magic filled tree weakening it which caused the cave-in that killed many of her clan-mates. Qurmaline and his ill mother Saraphina were two of the deaths though she knows all of her clan-mates she helped bury. The roots started to rot causing her clan fled in fear of more death due to cave-ins.
One Morning the clan stood with their sister clan planning what to do. As Tempest looked out away from her home she was unsure of where she found lead her clan. That is when she saw Iris walking towards her with the rising sun behind her. The wind blew towards the armor-clad Skydancer and Tempest knew the sanctuary would go to the light and that is where the would be safe. She remembered living in the Lightweaver's domain and she felt this was the best for everyone including herself.
With a cutting of the tree, she led them to their new home in the Sundial Ruins. As they flew she heard the songs of mourning and prayers to the Windsinger. Despite all of the sadness, Tempest did not cry she couldn't, at least not yet. Brambles found a perfect spot for their home that happened to sit on an abandoned underground temple. Soon peace came over the group and then Tempest could finally mourn.
She flew back to the weeping willow as it stood wilting and the smell of death filled the air around it. Hot tears slid down her great muzzle as she began to sob for all of her clan's pain. Her sobs filled the air as she sat before her former home the place where she finally felt at home. Now it was gone and some of her dear friends were lost with it.
Suddenly she heard a sound and turned to she her mate Akihiko standing there with sorrow on his face as well. He walked up to her and took a place by her side, Akihiko looked up to her as he said softly, "I knew I would find you here."
She sighs, "I could not let anyone see me like this so I came here."
He nodded and gazed back at the willow. The two sat there, crying talking and praying. When morning came they returned home their roles as Emperor and Empress waiting for them. Though time has passed Tempest can only look ahead and lead her clan. She is their guardian, protector and she will never let this happen again.
