This is probably a concept that's already been introduced before, heh. Figured I should give it a go none the less! Peacocks!
Since it's just a rough idea, the artwork is a little sloppy and I only bothered to do one side, since it's pretty detailed as a concept! I ended up trying out different colour combos, most of which I colour-picked from scries of butterfly.
It'd look particularly lovely on feathered dragons, like coatls, sds and imps!
What do you guys think?
Original concept, using Emerald:

Okay! People have been asking a lot about how this would work on dragons with more leathery wings, so I went ahead and plotted out some basic blobs for where the pattern could be placed on them. It was fun to expand on this as a concept, even if it's super rough. c:
I would imagine that it wouldn't NEED to have a feathery texture, since as a concept, I think it's more about the dramatic pattern than than anything else.
(These aren't any particular FR colours, I just picked whatever colours stood out.)

This!
NO LONGER ACTIVE.
I LEFT FR AND GIVEN AWAY MY STUFF.
I wasn't sold on the peacock spots until I saw them on the other breeds, now I like them! I'd like to see the less feathery look on coatls, too.

I haven't searched through the thread much (sorry for that), but has anyone suggested glimmer for dragons' wings yet? It would be like the glimmer gene, but for the wings! I think it would look wonderful ^^ (Sorry if this is a stupid suggestion...)

I love this! Personally I’d like to see higher contrast in the spots- something like butterfly or poison where it brings a completely new color for some color versions of the gene, like the blue in the spots on a peacock's tail:

Either way, though, support!

@Rinks I completely agree! I tried to bring in a hint of that with crimson and royal, but I'm sure it could be pushed further. c:

@KatieOurMatie
Ahh, this gene is gorgeous! :O It looks amazing on Guardians too!! This needs to be a thing now. :D

the peacock suggestion looks more like a tertiary to me. I love the design by Katie. Full support for tertiary on that one...it'd be great layered over other secondaries, but it'd need some added details so it trailed onto the dragon's body too.

I was thinking about a sec gene kinda equivalent to Petals. I would call it Mosaic. Maybe it could work with the color-system like Petals or Butterfly do, if you know what I mean?
Just gonna leave this here

(Well, probably not that colorful though)

A mandelbrot gene to go with the fractal primary I suggested in the primary thread.
Like this could be a repeating wing pattern:
