As another point to the above post? There have been great strides in almost every other aspect of the site to make it simpler for users. Fiona was added as a way for users who can't get access to some familiars, and a way to grant extra familiars to people. Beyond that, there hasn't been any upgrades to bonding. At all. It's about time it got a bit of a buff compared to the other features of the site.

i feel like all the "you don't have to do it" posts are missing the point. yes, its not required, but it'd be nice if the act of bonding was more pleasant to do en masse. I dont suffer from motor disabilities, but it'd be really nice to not have to worry about literally being given carpal tunnel because of a game's mechanics lol
something like bonding through bestiary, for this reason, would be a whole lot better

If the benefits are negligible, then what would be the negative impact of expediting the bonding process? (Not necessarily a bond-all button, but any number of other possible reworks) If page reloads/ad revenue could be made up through alternate clicking methods (big fan of the fiona's bonding pen pitch), then it seems like the only other major impact is saving player time and increasing player enjoyment.
There's obviously a significant group of people who disagree with that, so what am I missing? /gen
To be fair, I think part of this comes from a lack of a concrete suggestion in the OP so people are jumping to things like Bond All. Most people seem up for the Fiona-style idea. But I also think that the necessity of it is a point of discussion because I genuinely don't believe that switching out each and every familiar in your hoard to bond with is the intended or commonly used purpose of that feature.
However I do kind of take back what I said about the benefits being negligible, as @/Jemadar had a really good post on it on pg 2!

"Essential" in a gooey game theory sort of definition! I should have used more precise language but I lack the words.
As soon as any item is a coliseum exclusive, it is necessary for some players to play in the coliseum. (It is not necessary for every player, because this is a social/bartering game.) If nobody fights in the coliseum, we don't have access to a good chunk of food/materials/apparel/familiars/trinkets. (For example, because Swipp's has exclusive items, Swipp's is an essential part of the game, and economy for the exclusive items would suffer if it was unusually difficult to use. Because Tomo's offers treasure, it is not an essential part of the game because there are many alternative places to earn her rewards.)
I get you now :)

None of those are essential though. Essential or 'mandatory participation' is dependent on having rewards locked behind participation. Nothing on Flight Rising is locked behind personal progression in any aspect of the site because everything (barring a tiny handful of clanbound versions of some items) is tradable between players.
A coli gene can be obtained by anyone, even if they don't ever touch the coli.
A Swipp gene can be obtained by anyone, even if they never visit Swipp.
A Baldwin item can be obtained by anyone, even if they don't use Baldwin.
Arlo items can be obtained by anyone, even if they don't use Arlo.
Rusted, Iron, and Gilded chests can be obtained even if you never bond with familiars.
The game functions of the logical basis of 'if you can't/won't do this, pay someone who does do it', same as you see irl with chefs or photographers or artists. That doesn't make features of the site 'essential', as you aren't required to engage with them to earn the rewards.
If you play games with mandatory features, you'll know how good we have it on FR in those regards

I am currently suffering with a temporary disability as a result of a skiing accident at the start of December (which has left me with a cast on my dominant right hand and left leg), but I will have to say no support to this suggestion.
Prior to this injury I bonded with all of my unawakened familiars (around 400 familiar) every day by cycling through them on one of my dragon and I continued to do the through all of NoTN even with my hand in a cast.
I believe bonding with familiars isn't something 'necessary' for players get the full experience of playing flight-rising as it's not something that you are required to do in order to progress through any kind of story, or to obtain exclusive items, and therefore I don't believe that the entire feature and its rewards should be made redundant through the addition of a bond-all button which would not only damage the games economy (through an influx of treasure and chest reward from players who might have never bonded with familiar prior to the introduction of the bond all button), but also lore implications as the ability to bond with all of your familiar at one would have to be given an official lore-based reason for existing.
I can't see a good way for the devs to explain this 'bond-all' feature in the sites lore, other than perhaps through the introduction of a feature that allows the player to pay an NPC (fiona maybe) to care for a number of their familiars each day, which in turn increases their bond (though in order to mitigate the effects this would have on the economy, I believe the charge would have to be higher than the amount of treasure payed out for bonding with the familiar.

The rework of dragon profiles was a massive buff to familiar bonding. The ability to just click to the next dragon is wonderful.
I didn't bond my familiars before because it was too tedious. Now I do, because the layout makes it super easy.

@
Ogerpon- Hey, my Signature says please not to quote me. Please do not.
I wouldn't consider the layout to be a dedicated fam bonding upgrade. It's a by-product to make scenes work more than something designed to help that feature.

Partial support, not for a bond-all button because that's always the thing that's too divisive but maybe a bond button per row of dragons. Or per page? per tab? something that greatly *reduces* the amount of clicks a disabled person would have to do but is still...semi-interactive I guess?
Support for this. I understand the argument that a bond-all button would be harmful to the stability of the website, but a bond-all button for individual lair pages, or another way of grouping familiars, would still be really helpful to users with limited mobility. It's well within the spirit of the original suggestion and doesn't have as much of an impact on the site.

Partial support; if a bond-all button were implemented, you could likely minimize the disruption to the economy by making it so that only familiars who are currently attached to a dragon would provide treasure when bonded, and familiars in the hoard would only receive bond progress and return chest rewards. Awakening a familiar from zero is still going to take over a month, so I don't think we'd necessarily be seeing an immediate gilded chest apocalypse. You could also implement a bonding treasure cap similar to the Fairgrounds, if larger lairs are a concern.
Bonding with familiars may not necessarily be "essential" to the game, but collecting them is a big part of the advertised appeal, and your options for completing the bestiary are either 1) keep them in your inventory forever, or 2) awaken them. If you want to sell or trade them to declutter but keep your bestiary progress, you're out of luck unless you can devote the time and effort to bonding every day. It's not something I'm personally concerned about, but I can understand that point of view.

everyone claims that we "don't have to" bond with all of our familiars. we don't "have" to do a lot of things in this game. heck, we don't even "have" to play flight rising at all, but we want to. that's the kicker. we WANT to.
things like familiars add to the game. I like collecting them. I like completing their bonding. I like getting a bit of extra treasure and chests from doing so. it adds to the game for me, and when I was still able to bond, but not play coli, it also gave me stuff I could make money off of.
we don't "have" to play coli, but it adds something to the game, and gives us items that we normally wouldn't be able to get. we don't "have" to play fairgrounds, but it gives us a fun activity, and gives us daily treasure. yet if we don't play either of these, how are we supposed to make money? what are we supposed to do? could you please enlighten me?? sure, there's Baldwin, but that's still incredibly limited.
however, these things are nigh inaccessible to disabled players. those like myself who don't even have carpal tunnel, but still experience incredible pain in their arms. those that love playing a game, having fun, but can't access certain things that COULD easily be made accessible but aren't because the entitled users are worried that it would give those like us a "leg up." buddy. we don't have a leg to stand on to begin.
why is everyone so hostile? so against basic accessibility? are you going to yell at staff for making helpful changes for those that are visually impaired? are you going to tell someone that needs a screen reader they don't "have" to play flight rising at all? crikey. yours is not the only experience.
edit: before anyone claims they "aren't being hostile," you may not be aware of it, but you are. telling us that we don't need it, that we don't deserve it, that it's not important, is in essence, being hostile. "player hostile" does not have to be aggressive. it just has to be against the player.
