Where are the tertials?
I see this frequently in bird art, and I understand why people do it, it makes it easier to see where the wing ends and the body begins, since if you dont know better, its easy to imagine the flesh of the wing extends down the body of the bird, like the FR's dragons do.

it's easy enough to just google wing feather anatomy.
I'm not asking for literally every feather group, i dont care about that, I really really really understand the need to simplify anatomy for style and time's sake.

Come on @Doodlepede don't you think that you're a bit hard with the designer or this aparel?
I am using it on Aquilon and it is just beautifull

So I want to ask you, respectfully, if you think that slowing down progress on art for new apparel/genes/breeds is worth it to correct something minor and - no offense - extremely pedantic, like this. I could see if there was clipping or an actual art error. However these are fantasy owls on a planet populated by sentient dragons where we have far more glaringly unrealistic things like a Fae breeding with an Imperial and some of the weirder dragon poses. And I literally cannot see a difference between the owls and the chickens in terms of the feathers and I don't know if my eyes are just old or what, but in any case...
A resounding no support.
EDIT: this isn't personal, this is me being pragmatic about the work already on the site artists

I think some of the people in this thread already really need to check their tone a little. You're coming across as kind of belittling and perhaps confrontational about a post that was worded relatively respectfully, as OP acknowledges the reasons behind the art choice and how common it is to see....
Regardless.....
It does bother me now that I see the issue. That gap between the owls body and wing feathers is really odd. But ultimately, this piece of apparel has been out for far too long and it isn't a concerning or inappropriate art choice. So, I don't think it's particularly a good idea to change it. Changing something people are already using and have been using for months can cause a lot of upset with the userbase, for very understandable reasons as it isn't really fair to everyone who's been using it as is.
It's a no support on my end, purely because it's just been out for far too long.

My apologies. I am autistic and I know I have a tendency to come off blunt/abrasive, and I have a warning about that on my profile. It's not personal.

It's stylised, it's not meant to be realistic.

The artists work hard to make all of the apparel items match in appearance and theme and work for all modern breeds and poses. That's a lot to manage and if they want to draw things in a manner that's easier for them, or easier for the item to be read on all of the various dragon poses then that's a good thing.
For all we know there was a more anatomically correct version drafted up and it was scrapped because it didn't look right/was more difficult to draw in a readable and appealing way on certain breeds/poses.
I would much rather get abundant, good looking apparel items than completely 'perfect' apparel that don't look as good. The site is about aesthetics and in conflict between perceived perfection versus looking best for as many dragons as possible while being easy to draw for those dragons, then looking good has to win.

I understand the issue here and agree it looks really weird, however I'm going to have to say no support on the grounds that I feel it's too late to change it. Alterations/revamps to existing apparel usually mess up people's outfit/layering or even the whole vibe of the dragon wearing it so they don't generally go down well with the community.

sometimes you can look at multiple images and still not get idea of anatomy (hey, someone who is starting into 10 images of torso and is confused about why is that line where it is. cmon. I just wanna draw a guy). it could be accident or aesthetical choice (which, we all do), different view/conclusion from reference etc. so I don't think it was on purpose or anything... yes I wish art of animals is more accurate but don't think this is needing change now
if anything, this can serve us (and site artist) as little anatomy tip?
also for notn artist had to do different animals, I can't blame them for detail mistake, there just isn't enough time to study in that depth - and as said, sometimes you differently read out images and it depends on what references were used

I agree it does look off, as a future ornithologist my brain did kinda go "hm something ain't right" when I first saw the necklaces. I don't have the groups of feathers memorized so I couldn't pin it down but now I know what the issue is.
But the apparel's been out for so long I don't think it's worth going back and changing it unless there's a really slow day at the office or something lol. I support the fix in that context. It would be nice. Birds get drawn and animated incorrectly so often :pensive:
