   PAHALIAH { pah-HAH-lee-ah }   That's the Way  The End of All Things Whenever It Rains

Pahaliah had first heard the voice of the Divinity when he was a young child. He had miraculously survived the razing of his small and humble parish. The Divinity had protected him in a moment of great peril, and in return, he devoted himself to becoming a Feather. Over many years, he would ascend the ranks of the Wings and was eventually elected Pontifex in the year 1035. He wanted to share with others the glory of the Divinity, and would often tell his story of having been saved as a boy, particularly during the celebratory mass held for the Lady of Nature. Pahaliah's mind is always troubled around the celebration for the Lord of Arcana, however. While the Divinity Itself delivered no judgement on the basis of sexuality, others do. As Pontifex, he does what he can to quietly and subtly remind the Sorniethites of this during his sermons, but he can only do so much. In private, he spends most of his free time writing letters to his very close friend. It would be a scandal for the pair to mingle where prying eyes might see, and though he would never change the path he has chosen, he can't help but regret how little time he gets to spend with his companion. He and his beloved Magnolia were childhood friends. After Pahaliah was rescued from the remains of his village, he was taken away to a monastery orphanage where he met a boy his age who had suffered a similar fate. Although the Clemency Period had seen the ushering of a new age of peace and cooperation between all Flights the likes of which has never been seen before, the prosperity had yet to truly take hold in more rural communities. The pair spent many years in that orphanage. While Magnolia became reckless and rowdy over the years, he had never passed on an opportunity to listen to Pahaliah talk about the diaries of monks long since passed he found tucked away in dusty forgotten rooms. They confessed the nature of their feelings toward each other in one such room. When Pahaliah became twenty-two and Magnolia twenty, he left the monastery in pursuit of his theological education. Often while studying, he'll become lost in thought, gazing out the window into the garden.
