Kala simply sat back with her wine, content to watch the other residents of the lair and make light conversation with the tundra.

Eventually the necromancer sent her shambling minions back to the lower levels and, always antsy when her familiar was gone, wandered outside to wait for the bird to return itself to her via magic. She passed the two ridgeback's, who were just getting off their shifts and wandering back inside.

Skyheart flopped down near where Kala and the tundra were, looking hot and tired. The mirror that was fetching drinks brought her a bottle of something. Everything was otherwise quiet.

Cruz returned with a letter. This one wasn't sealed with a wax seal and the handwriting was hastily written.

"My apologies. Things here have been chaotic for the past few months and my memories of my visit are fairly hazy. I hope you are doing well friend. Please deliver the enclosed letter to Aharon.

Also inside the letter was another smaller letter, this one was sealed with a wax seal.

Penance tucked the larger letter into her robe to be filed later, handing the smaller one up to the bird. "Don't get swatted this time," she said as it took off from her shoulder.

Crux fluttered into the lower caves barely slowing as he navigated to the deepest part of the lair. Aharon wasn't hard to find, as he was almost always crouched in front of a particularly imposing reinforced door.

The bird kept a careful distance, as the dragon was likely to try and kill him if he got too close. But a bit of cawing and flapping allowed the corvid to deliver its parcel unharmed.

Grumbling, the imperial plucked the letter off the ground and broke the seal with a claw to read it.

The letter read as follows

"Hello Aharon,

I'm Doctor Samuel Hayden. Sight Overseer of th Vigilator Nord Medical Facility. I visited Her Majesty a year ago with a compatriot of mine. During that time the facility was under (a word has been completed blackened out here.) renovation, so a visit was impossible at that time. However the renovations have been completed at this time. I would like to invite you and Her Majesty Silth to visit Vigilator Nord Medical Facility. This visit would be all expenses paid, with food and lodging expenses covered. If you choose to accept this offer, please contact the courier that came in with a letter for Penance. He will be able to guide you on how to get there.

The imperial read over the letter several times. She had spoken of an old friend showing up out of the blue, something to briefly snap her back into coherent reality. And with the clan up in arms, an extended vacation may be just what they needed to let everything simmer down.

He rose and padded quickly through the dark tunnels and into the main ones. They could leave as soon as sundown the next day, so it was cool enough to fly over the Boneyard.

Aharon slunk into the common room, spotting the courier by the fire with ease. He approached them with purposeful steps.

"You're the courier that delivered Penance her letter this morning?" It was really more statement than question. "I'm told that you can instruct us on how to get to-" he inspected the letter again, "Vigilator Nord."

Standing over them as he was, there were a few things off about the cloaked figure. His antleted head was just a bit too wide beneath the hood. The cloak was draped strangely. His eyes barely reflected light at all, but when they did there seemed to be too many in the front.

The Tundra stared blankly up at the Imperial for a few seconds, his eyes as big around as saucers. He really was giving the royal guard a mediocre impersonation of a statue. He finally broke the silence with a very hesitant.

"Yah."

The imperial just continued to stare down at the dragon until he answered, before nodding. Or something, it was hard to tell with the hood.

"Good. It will take me some time to prepare the queen," he said, "but I should like to leave by sundown tomorrow." He had a deep and resounding voice, which might have been soothing if not for the way it seemed to reverberate in one's chest.

"I trust that will be enough time to prepare your instructions." He paused. "Or to rest, if you wish to travel with us, I suppose."

The tundra continued to stare at the imperial.

"Ok. I'll be here."

The tundra uncomfortably broke eye contact and let out a sigh.

"Water it is then"

The large dragon made a pleased grunting sound and turned back to the underground tunnels. There was a bit of work and packing to be done, and he wanted to get a good rest before heading out.

Kala took another sip of her wine. "You have the rest of the evening, and all of tomorrow as well," she pointed out, "you might as well enjoy your evening. It's not exactly safe to travel through the desert during the day anyways."

She shifted her pearl, gripping it loosely in one of her hind claws while she lounged on the cushions close to the fire. "On the plus side, if you travel with them there's no dragon or beast what will mess with you." She propped herself up on one elbow to watch the tundra, smirking slightly at the thought. "The Royal guard is pretty uptight, and hard to look at, but he won't hurt you."

"Unless you do something to upset the queen."

The tundra seemed to relax as the imperial walked away.

"In that case I'm gonna need another shot. By the Ice Warden, I'm a courier not an escort. I'm way too ugly to be an escort, especially for a queen. I always draw the short straw."

He let out a dramatic sigh.

"What about you, how'd you get stuck with the job of being a hostess?"
