Once upon a time, a fox fell in love with a seagull.
It was a small spark at first, as he watched the gull in flight, mesmerized by its swooping on the wind. Over time, what was infatuation grew into affection, and the two took great pleasure in chasing each other up and down the coastline and sharing in the fish the fox found in the trash from the nearby seaside town.
However, there came a day when the seagull had to fly away.
“I must leave,” said he, “for they no longer want me here.”
“Then I will follow you!” the fox replied, fluffing himself up with pride.
“I have watched you,” said the seagull with a solemn sigh. “You can’t swim out that far.”
“Yes, I can!” The fox, not heeding the gull’s words, bounced around excitedly. “Watch me, watch me!”
“Then prove it.” The seagull spread his wings and took off into the rolling gray sky. And like a fool, the fox chased after his beloved into the slathering maw of the sea.

When I was a child, I was visited by a mysterious fox spirit.
I didn't know where he came from, but hell, I was starting to doubt if I knew where I had come from. I was a curious child, in search of new beginnings. But mainly, I just wanted to see my real parents again.
My fosters told me that I was descended from the legendary Meta Knight. And more than anything, I wished I could be just like him.
I told the strange fox this, and he told me that "fools die in such ways." With that, he led me into the Void, towards my new destiny...
Flash forward five years and I met him again on the coast of the Great Bay. He offered to take a walk with me, and I obliged. And when I looked at the sky, I saw my lives, both physical and spiritual, projected across the sky. For each moment, there were two sets of footprints in the sand. However, for the hardest times of my life, there was only one set.
"Keaton," I asked him, tears in my eyes, "why is it that there is only one set of footprints? Weren't you there when I needed you most?"
He turned to me and replied, "I used my tails as a helicopter," and he helicoptered away.
