The witch, Lillian, was often found roaming the wilderness of the Starwood Strand; it was not uncommon for young dragons to approach her for love philters, elders for healing spells, and the embittered for hexes. What was uncommon for her was the presence of dragons who wished to become her apprentices.

She had tried, at the time, to convince the dragons; the twins Lyra and Luka, that apprenticeship with a witch was not what many romanticized it to be; they would not remain dragons for it. Where do you suppose familiars come from? Their undeterred response was curious to her, and after giving them a fortnight and a day to think it through, they had returned more willing than before to join her in the pursuit of magic.
