This is Stogwen. He isn’t particularly intelligent or impressive - in fact, by Coatl standards, he's a bit dull. However, he doesn't let that bother him at all. Born on the Windswept Plateau, his first home was the Ashfall Waste, a place where he was mocked and dismissed for his dull plumage. Stogwen, however, was oblivious. That should have been that.

Except, it wasn’t...

Stogwen now has 2300+ recorded descendants (or at least ones that are Coatls from two Coatl parents), and definitely more I haven't managed to track down. The fun part is, he has no idea how large his family has gotten - his descendants are a bit, infamous though. They set out to prove their dull plumage wasn't bad luck (as Coatls tend to view dull plumage) and ended up creating a very large and convoluted family tree that all links back to Stogwen. But this isn't about making the family tree any more complicated. If you want to see dragons related to Stogwen multiple times (we have a dragon related to him 10 different ways). You can get involved in the adventure here. This is a little project I came up with recently to create a little mission for myself over the next year and to get me started on owning my own unbroken line of Stogwen generations to keep in my lair permanently.

So what am I trying to do? On January 4th, Stogwen comes off cooldown. He'll nest with his mate, Carolina, in my nature nests. I'll get a clutch of nature-element second generation Stogwens.

Then, when those hatchlings are ready to breed, I'll find a Coatl to mate with them. However, I'll seek out another element for them to nest in. These will be generation 3.

When generation 3 is RTB, they will take a mate and I'll pick another element to nest in to get generation 4.

Can you see where this is going? By generation 11, all but one element will have been used, and the final element will be wind. Why? Stogwen is a wind dragon, so it feels natural to have the final element in this chain be wind, to reach full circle.

I haven't decided the order yet, but essentially, each generation of Stogwen will mate in a different elemental nest until I have 11 stogwen descendants (generation 2- 12) all with a different element.

Now, how do I add a little spice to this?
- I cannot change the genes of the Stogwen descendant until they've nested for the first time and I have my next generation
- The mate for each Stogwen descendant, besides being a Coatl, must have at least 1 different gene to the Stogwen. Hopefully, then I can get a variety of genes involved (though I'll probably end up keeping the snowbelly element, we'll see).

I'm open to any suggestions anyone has! But this project is going to take a little while, with Coatl cooldowns being what they are...

I'll sell the rest on the Stogwen Sales Thread.

I've decided to keep this girl for the project: Why? 2 reasons - 1. I prefer tiger on female Coatls & 2. I want as many genes in the project as I can (whilst still trying to have pretty dragons) so I'd like to move away from ripple as the primary gene.

@pinglist-20876 My generation 2 girl (Anvil) has just been sent off to a Lightning nest with her mate, Yew. Here is the chosen mate: I decided to go with him because he's got genes I haven't really seen within the Stogwen project, and since they're both common genes, its very likely at least one hatchling will have at least one gene different to Anvil - which is my plan going forwards. Sometimes it may not happen, as I'll need to step up into uncommon genes at some point. Anyway, babies in 5 days hopefully!

@All Across Sornieth with Stogwen...

3.png

Generation: III (3)
Due Date: 18th February

91176869p.png "Hey, Anvil, looks like the eggs might hatch soon."
"Good. I'd like to be able to travel home soon. It's too...dry here. Feels like my feathers are all dried out and there's no weight to them at all. nothing like home at all, I haven't seen a single drop of rain since we've been out here." 92126796p.png
91176869p.png "Well, it was your choice to come here..."
"I know, and I've leant a lot about engineering, so its not all bad. I know Dad wants me to be a blacksmith, and I do enjoy that work... but, you really think he's going to be cool with me integrating electrical components to my work? He's not really into... modern ways of doing things..." 92126796p.png
91176869p.png "It isn't your father I'd be worried about. your mother is the one who is...well, judgemental. Sorry. Yeah, I'm not really sure how else to put it. Sorry. Anyway, we've talked about this. You're always going to be in your father's shadow unless you do something new."
"Hmmm. I guess you're right. and I do have some ideas already about how to make some armour that like, glows? Like I could integrate LEDs into each piece so it gives off light and I think that would look cool, y'know?" 92126796p.png

hello yes how pretty??? What a gorgeous nest?? The eldest one that I presume is the heir is gorgeous, the middle one is a perfect tree dragon who looks like a dirty birch tree with peeling bark, and the youngest is a perfect pretty XYX!

there's really good potential for a super pretty ice dragon with the right mate, just saying. (yes this is me volunteering a nest when you get to Ice if you're comfortable with it. no pressure if you'd prefer to rent)

@Axqu yeah I'm amazed they all came back as nice as they did! I am thinking of keeping the first one for the next generation, yeah, but I'm not forced to pick the first one, Anvil was 2nd hatched from her nest after all. My only rule is I try to take one with genes inherited from the non-Stogwen parents, which leaves the first girl or tree baby as my option. I'm inclined toward the first one just because I already have a big pile of tree looking dragons. Once I'm 100% certain, I'll list the other two for sale.

I'd also be very open to an Ice nest. I literally have 0 order for what nests I'm using apart from wind has to be last to circle back to Stogwen's element. It was lightning this time because I got a volunteer, so if you're offering ice can be next!
