Having an affinity for cats when your grandfather is the clan's best fisher-dragon is incredibly useful when you want to acquire more cats - and Siphocalymus certainly enjoys collecting her furry friends. She thinks they're funny little creatures who make adorable noises and respects their need for personal space. When she was young, Siphocalymus certainly took advantage of her grandfather's position, and acquired a small menagerie of cats. Though, that was not the only reason she spent so much time in his company, for she was very fond of his stories as well, and would find an excuse to hang around him listening to his tales and songs. Her favourite stories were those about their lineage, about all of the Coatls he had tracked down and the adventures they had been on. It is easy to see how this developed into her job being assisting Audacity in keeping track of this lineage officially in Mossgarde's grand library. Technically, she's an archivist in the library working with her brother, Hyacinth, but her focus is more on processing research than keeping it organised.

Before the library, when her family was living in Dragonhome, Siphocalymus tried her hand at being an alchemist. This was not something she was particularly skilled at, and was involved in many incidents involving toxic substances and minor explosions. Despite her struggles, she persisted, determined to do something that would contribute to the tiny clan in that they could sell her wares to help get by. She is fortunate that only her arms and legs are particularly scarred, for most of her coat has grown back in to hide the burns. She keeps her arms permanently covered to hide the damage and is much happier in the library. Occasionally, she does dabble with alchemy, but without the self-inflicted pressure she finds herself surprisingly more successful in her endeavours.
