TOPIC | Levelling to 25
When going to level 25 I level 1 dragon with 2 kelp bed trainers and zone out that way. Getting from 1-20 takes about half as much time as getting to level 25 (exp wise) but the real slog happens once you hit level 20. From that point on, it's roughly 30-35 minutes per level, and I try to watch youtube videos of roughly that length in the background to help the time pass.

@gardenfruit First L25 team is the purest slog. I won a L25 in a raffle when I was starting out, and once you have one fully levelled and stoned it gets a lot easier. Now I'm an old player with a decent stable of L25s, creating more is a lot less miserable. Most people in this thread are talking about selling L25s for 250g ish; if you can save up that much in another way it might well be better to buy your first trainer and bootstrap the rest. I totally understand if you want to grow your own though!

@Zenzic That makes sense, just general grinders in the Kelp Beds and a decent amount of patience! 4-5 hours is probably around a week or two of play time for me, but that's fine, I'm not in any hurry.

Good point about not statting the trainees. They need some amount of QCK when you're actually using them, but you don't want them to take turns if they aren't ready to pack serious damage.

@ewerb Oh yeah for sure. I do still want to get my current team to level 25 since I want that feeling of accomplishment, especially since two of which are my progens! I have debated saving up to buy one but in all honestly I never really felt inclined to y'know? Two of my dragons are fully stoned, I just need a few more stones for Sirrah (the non-progen member haha) but we're getting there :D

@EeveeDream Thank you! I think there isn't a faster or less boring way to do it, but I sufficiently enjoy coli that it's probably worth it for me. I'm not going to sit there for hours at a time but I am happy to spend half an hour grinding every so often and I'll get my L25 eventually.

Oh, I love that Coli challenge! I did something similar but less intense with Yako, where I leveled them and a team to 25 in hopes that their Diamond gene would drop (it did not [emoji=ridgeback laughing size=1] but their journey did indeed at least partially fund the gene). I do it all sorts of ways. Mostly I use trainers (usually Harpy's Roost, Ghostlight Ruins, or Mire— my Ghostlight is an Anticitank, to further shake up the rhythm), but I've taken numerous teams through the "slow way" from 1-25 and actually do enjoy the process (except for certain venues— Scorched Forest and now Forgotten Cave since its revamp added absurdly tanky enemies). I pick dragons for various reasons, lore, they're pretty, who happens to be in my lair and easier to level than moving someone out of Hibden, etc. I like the process of leveling, and I like having level 25s around to test fun new builds whenever (which means most of the time they just sit around for years without a build [emoji=ridgeback laughing size=1]). I've leveled a few for the purpose of giving away to newbies, mostly during the time when Eliminate prices were skyrocketing and people were still telling people "you need Eliminate," but these days I'm mostly just leveling permas. Could I be leveling fodder instead and getting actual money? You bet! Do I enjoy leveling my permas anyway? Definitely! Oops! [emoji=ridgeback laughing size=1] Oh! Forgot to mention that I do the majority of my perma leveling during EXP boost holidays— I will sometimes do it outside of that, but it gives extra motivation and reason to be in Coli, plus feels a bit less sloggy in the last few levels. Plus, if I'm not doing it all the time, it gives a very natural "break" from the grind and lets me just casually level my own bred fodder.

@mothscale I looooove diamond Abbies! And Yako is particularly great, I do love how their skin blends with their original colours. Diamond is pretty cheap usually, but it's about waiting for that lucky drop. I could afford my 700k of upgrades if I wanted to, but farming the cost from coli is a better challenge.

I haven't experimented much with Anticitank, maybe that's the direction I should go next to have some variety in my coli approach. I do love the new Clobber build though, I put it on my lovely G1 prize dragon.

It's interesting that you enjoy levelling triple teams from scratch, I don't have the patience and plan to use a trainer. But if you're just levelling permas for your own satisfaction it doesn't matter if it's slow.

I'm also in the Mire club. I use my mire flyer + two trainees. I don't stat or stone the trainees at all.

I only level dragons to 25 during exp events. I'll train up a duo to level 25, then sell them. It's technically less efficient than training fodder, but I usually run out of fodder during microholidays anyway.

As for who to train, I generally pick out a duo of cute fodder (or close-to-fodder, no more than 10g). Purely for fun, I like to have them themed. Last microholiday, my trainees were abyss-themed. The one before that, it was arcane aethers.

What build do you use for the trainer(s)? Do you stay in the same venue or mix it up? Do you set aside a big block of time to grind or do you it a little at a time?

I use Maki's guide to and have had my Coli dragons stated to the recommended stats and level. I have a Mire, Kelp Beds, and Ghostlight Ruins builds. I will say that I do stay in the same venue as lately that is just Ghostlight Ruins. When we have the exp. Boost micro-holidays I train them in Kelp Beds though because I want to get more of the exp. And have trained for countless hours in Kelp Beds. When it comes to leveling to 25 though it depends on my mood and if I am willing to commit some time to leveling a dragon to 25.

Most of my fodder levels get trained to 10 (to save on fodder when purchasing foddart since most also end in 0 levels)

I'm most interested to know what you do when you have a mid-level dragon being trained! Do you stat them and give them stones so they can contribute in the battle? Do you actually improve them towards a final build eg give them eliminate?

I do not stone my dragons even if they are permanent. I want a full level 25 lair, and will even if they aren't stated, I usually find the time to train them, sometimes on autopilot as Coli tends to be a repetitive click of buttons. I don't give them an Eliminate nor other stones unless it was a team that I trained from 1-25 most of the time for lore building. However I want my permas to be level 25 because I love it.

Also, what do you do with your fully levelled dragons? Sell? Raffle? Use for flight dominance? Hire out? Collect them? If you sell them what sort of prices are you getting?

Store and keep them in my lair. I don't normally host raffles/giveaway but all of my permas have to be level 25 period. I do sell some Gen 1s that were level 25 but lately I've been training some non permas for breeding achievements as I want to sell them by the time they nest again. I still don't stat them.

I did host a giveaway where I had a Gen 1 and non Gen 1 XXX for Valightine's Day. It took me by surprise that the dragons were the first ones that players claimed. I do have an upcoming giveaway which was more spontaneous on my part compared to Valightine's but I am now waiting and have 3 level 25 (tincture as well as I know some players stat them to whatever).

I usually sell Gen 1s for 250g and add extra if I find the dragon is a bit matchy in color with their element.

And how do you choose which dragons to train? Just pretties, or do they have to be rare in some way? Or is it based on lore?

I choose based on perma or not but I have sold and exalted some in my lair as well. Usually if they are breeding projects that I hatch I level them as soon as I can. I'm a mixed lair and refuse to be a fully Gen 1 lair in part due to having successful breeding projects and I'm too attached to exalt them.

I will admit when it comes to non-permas, I have a habit of training them to 25 before another month has passed as they are mostly for breeding achievement and I sell them for a flat rate of 200g since they will be bred and according to my lore the dragon must leave at a higher price than was purchased and 200g is a sort of compensation for having to pay them in AH. This is only for breeding achievements. I breed Imperials for it and while slow since 1 month cooldown it does make for a quick "I'm over you being in my lair".

I didn't do any research, assigned the stats and stones I THOUGHT would be good and just grinded on and off for two years...... It was painful [emoji=tundra scared size=1]
