I do still want to get my current team to level 25 since I want that feeling of accomplishment, especially since two of which are my progens!
Just wanted to say this is really relatable! When I was new, my friend offered to lend me a level 25 trainer, but I decided I wanted to raise my first three dragons myself, going up through the areas organically. It took a long time (especially saving up for the stones) but I did it. I've never done the "whole trip" since then, I always just use my mire flier + two trainees. But I'm glad I did it from scratch once.

@Achaius I really like the idea of theming a pair and training them all the way through a microholiday! I agree that's comparably efficient to buying lots of very expensive fodder to train to 7-10, and probably more satisfying. I might try that next time there's an XP event.

@Al3s1s Thank you, I really appreciate this super-detailed answer. A full lair of L25s is an awesome goal, I'm impressed. In that context it makes sense not to give them stones. I'm not completely surprised that the G1 and XXX L25s were snapped up quickly, it does seem like those are really desirable.

It's a pretty great level of dedication to the breeding achievements to work with L25s like that! And it makes sense that you are ready to sell them by the time you've completed the nests. Really interesting to see how different people play.

I have 2 methods for training:

1. One mire flyer training 2 dragons. Trainees are left unstated and unstoned during their training, as their participation would just slow down the process. I usually also have the trainees at different levels, so even if I train for a short while I get a level or two done on at least one of them (helps with motivation).

2. A 3 dragon team being statted and stoned as they work their way through venues as they level up together. A bit slower, but it changes things and allows me to accumulate items from multiple venues. I generally use this method during the quarterly food themed events when bonus xp is on offer, or when I'm just plain bored of mire grinding.

I don't sell mine. I just like to level my permanent dragons.

@TeddyPigeonz I can only imagine! I wasn't at all efficient at levelling my first team, just recently I've been expanding my L25 battle school but mostly through raffles rather than levelling them myself.

Duke's guide IS still relevant, so I use it. I usually start with 2 permas and one fodder, at lvl 8 i exalt fodder dragon and start levelling another.

The trick is to have all fancy Stones for dragons, so eliminate is a must.

It depends on how many dragons I'm leveling to 25. If I'm doing 3, like with my Fates and Furies, then I just follow Duke's guide with a trio of leveling dragons. If I'm doing less than 3 dragons, then I'll start as if they're fodder by letting them tag along to the Kelp Beds or the Mire, until about level 10 or so. Then once I have a trio of level 10s, I'll follow Duke's guide again.

I've never leveled a dragon fully without stones, but it might be a fun side quest one day.
