I miss old seafoam, maize, rose, ice, and sky! The increased saturation of the new shading for those colors just doesn't hit the same pastel notes. Thankfully they're preserved somewhat in iri/shim on old breeds since those genes are hand-colored, but I remember exalting some old pastels back in the day because the color wheel expansion was not kind to their original looks. I liked the softer rose crackle some breeds had in particular, and tiger on tundras used to have a more prominent two-tone look!
(Anyone else remember old sand vipera? That was another favorite of mine.)
I'm also seconding everyone bringing up the original trading post; I get why they changed it the way they did, but the original map had character, and reminded me of how Neopets laid things out in a good way.
Things I definitely [i]don't[/i] miss are festival items retiring fully (there is no reason a light sprite should cost more than a Kickstarter item) and egg rot (though admittedly I joined the site well after it had been removed; the breeding system we have now isn't perfect and it would be nice to have a means of cancelling unwanted nests, but at least you are not pressured to incubate every day for fear of eggs rotting if you don't!).

Also I feel this in my soul. I've been on this site long enough that my opinion has shifted to "festival items, yes, even the older ones, should be feasibly attainable". They're just pixels, and ones that were available through normal gameplay, and people have capitalism simmed the heck out of the holy grail of them all to the point where only the richest of the rich could even dream of getting them these days. I think that's a little ridiculous! [emoji=coatl scared size=2]

I do sometimes miss the older artstyle, particularly in familiars and apparel. Sometimes the shading makes things look a little cartoonish. I do however love a lot of the new gene styles, so I'm not complaining

I suspect the only reason 2 letter names isn't a thing is because the search function needs 3 letters to work. If they adjust search to allow 2 letters, then it'll probably just exist again.
