At some point, you need something to encourage people to take part in events, and it's just been lacking. For most people, festivals are just business as usual, and a free week of dom for the festival flight.
And why is the way to go about that to punish anyone who, for any reason, can't participate?
Plenty of reasons someone might not be able to:
Buys with work/school, technical problems (lack of internet connection, no suitable device, etc.), issues at home, and other things I haven't listed.

Also Festivals being "business as usual" is a good thing??? We have a Festival basically every single month. They are not special events. They're monthly celebrations.
You encourage players to take part by making the items really cool. Like the swords this year. They are BANGIN.
To stay on topic: I also miss the old seafoam but I don't mind the new seafoam. I had a lot of seafoam dragons at the time so it was a little bit like coming home to unfamiliar children.

old common eyes.
something about regular ice eyes that was changed and i just cant stand them anymore
This. The default Shadow eye color looked closer to what we now call Shadow Uncommon, but any Shadow dragons I owned before the eye update got the much uglier Shadow Common. I have a small stockpile of Uncommon Eye vials in case I decide I need to "revert" a dragon's eye color to a nicer shade of purple.
Also, please bring back item caption contests. I only got to participate in one (I didn't win) and I really want a chance for that vista. ;u;

I miss this guy ;-;
It used to be the familiar icon before the hearts we have now. The hearts are much nicer, I won't argue against that. But still, rest in peace lil guy.

Egg rot, though like many people before me, this was before my time.
I don't thiiink I was late enough to the party to not experience the Trading Post map, but I do want to see that again.

The reason to participate in festivals is because he items are fun and interesting. Punishing people who have irl engagements keeping them from participating or burning them out on FR is an unreasonable practice. If they begin retiring festival items again I will probably wind up quitting because feeling forced to participate sounds draining and would suck the fun out of it from me
Also wow I had no idea old seafoam was so much better….bring it back please
And I’d love a return of official non-fest non-coli skins! Imagine a new grand exchange vendor for it!

FOMO is not good for a game health in the long term. Items should never retire in a game. This game is constantly rotating people in an out. People have lives off of computers.

Honestly as far as things I really miss go... the old version of the trading post. I was pretty bummed out when it became apparent that the interactable stalls would become rectangular buttons going forward rather than the trading post just expanding down the page with new art

Okay but the old gravel/sand/salt texture is so real. I miss those. I also really miss old Seafoam. </3
Confused about the conversation about item retirement. The reason fest items aren't as expensive anymore really, really, really isn't mainly because they can appear in Joxbox............. It's because the number of those items in circulation has exploded because the number of active players are so high and we actually all know what's going on now and know to buy extra copies for reselling later. I literally was around for so many festivals in 2013-2014 and just... didn't think to buy any copies of certain skins or items, for no particular reason. I was young and clueless, like a lot of other players. Now everyone is trying to play the econ game, and there's thousands more players than before, and we've optimized grinding, have more ways to get currency, etc.

In what world is rewarding participants of an event translating as 'punishing' people who don't do it.
This is such a bizarre take, and it's real concerning to see how pervasive it is among so many gaming communities.
