Many buildings of spiritual significance boast mosaics made of mother-of-pearl. This practice is derived from Lanternlea Port, whose pearlcatcher residents used their own produced nacre to make the tiles. Every mosaic is a labor of love, often the product of a single artisan’s life’s work. Because of the deep significance attached to a pearlcatcher’s pearl, these nacre mosaics are typically only displayed in places of worship or ancestral residences passed down from generation to generation. Their diet consists of the tough, fibrous parts of plants that can’t be eaten by dragons or used to make other items, so they’re a good way to dispose of otherwise useless plant matter. Their cloven hooves and feline balance mean they have no trouble navigating even the most perilous of Ra-Harenae’s cityscapes, and some dragons let their capricats freely roam outside, though this is discouraged as, if left unsupervised, they may snack on neighbors’ gardens (and messenger birds). [/columns] Some capricats are bred specifically for soft fur, typically crossbreeds between Angora goats and cats, two species famed for their long silky coats. They require constant maintenance and a yearly shear at the start of each summer season, but their shorn fur can be spun into a fine mohair yarn that makes for an incredibly soft knit that takes dye easily and can be made into a variety of colors, textures, and styles. Spiral capricats and mohair fiber made from their fur are both in especially high demand thanks to the fact that spiral capricats only occur as a genetic mutation and can’t be exclusively bred for. They're traditionally kept in their namesake bottles or other unassuming vessels, though some bottlesnakes are picky and insist on being housed in something different. Like hermit crabs, bottlesnakes outgrow their vessels as they age and must have them replaced every few years or so. Per regulation, bottlesnakes in the marketplaces must be nonvenomous, though this isn't really a strictly enforced rule, nor is it very tightly followed.
