The veined gene is an alteration to the blood and, without any physical wounds, does not visibly manifest on the body. Dragons might have their hides lightly and methodically scarred to form gilded tattoo-like patterns. Information Opaline Tears is a venom derived from the opal cobra that can be used in assassinations or, in its diluted form, as an ingredient in gembond scrolls. The venom is mainly used by earth dragons in wartime against other flights; earthborn dragons have an innate immunity to the effects of Opaline Tears and so it's rarely used within earth clans.
Opaline Tears in its liquid form is a controlled substance and requires a permit to produce and distribute, though no such restriction exists for the harmless gembond gene scroll.
The actual gene scroll itself is unadorned, bearing only a slight glittering sheen, but it's often kept in an elaborate scroll case accentuated by the type of gem that the scroll will produce.
