Here is Irelia, she loves exploring and making discoveries!
My explorer and archaeologist dragon, Zenith, uncovered what he assumed to be a multiple-thousands of years old grave, but revealed it was the resting place of a live dragon, Zezhuanth. Zenith himself is a young enthusiast rather than a professional and to the disdain of his master/mentor, he is not often careful or professional, and frequently makes silly mistakes that could destroy artifacts. He really enjoys messing around in the dirt - the fossils and antiques are just a slightly more interesting bonus that a rusty nail. These sorts of silly mistakes, however, allowed him to unearth and revive Zezhuanth, his soul mate and loving partner - without these tendencies to poke where he is not allowed enabled him to meet and bond with her. Zezhuanth, who only knew coatl when she was uncovered, stuck to Zenith like glue. Now, she studies ancient artifacts to surmise their purpose, and accompanies Zenith when he explores to discover new sites to document their findings. In private, she is willing to help out and get her paws dirty but refuses to "ruin her image" in front of other dragons, instead opting for more managerial duties (aka bossing everyone else about in a well-meaning, if somewhat stern, fashion). If Zenith throws muck or rocks anywhere near her in front of other people, she scrunches up her face and scowls, but alone they initiate the mud-and-dirt version of a snowball fight. Zezhuanth is infinitely more careful around dig-sites and ancient artifacts than Zenith is, though. Their purpose is to study various precious stones found throughout Sornieth, with a focus on ancient remnants of magical properties they may have once have possessed or have been exposed to. The pair is currently staying at the small Turquoise Bay inn, with hopes to study Dragonhome's geological wealth. The men have not a coin to their name, and subsist purely on grants endowed to them by the various research compendiums around Sornieth. Their current endeavors are funded by the Highland Sanctum in cooperation with the Oculus. Very important research indeed. And will 'mysteriously' come up with rocks that have interesting imprints on them.

In some AUs she's just an engineer, but in a large portion of them she's an arc diver (an archaeologist specializing in underwater excavations). She also dabbles in regular archaeology in some AUs and really just enjoys finding lost pieces of history. ----- Asperitas is from a subspecies (not of my creation) who, despite their tiny fae bodies, excel as underground guards and excavators of ancient treasures and lost history. Their bodies glow to help their team see, though it doesn't help Asperitas herself much, since she hatched blind and ultra-sensitive to light. She uses her magic and memories she shouldn't have to better understand what was once lost and sometimes to find it in the first place. She excels at echo-location and is named for a roiling, menacing-looking cloud formation, having darker wings than most of her daylit-sky-winged subspecies. ----- Cirro is another of the same subspecies and the first to answer Asperitas' lonely song, deep in a forgotten cavern of the Southern Icefields. Eventually they all made their way to light flight territory in search of their own lost history as a nearly-forgotten subspecies. He does look a little fancy for an archaeologist, doesn't he? Turns out those fine claws work as good as, or perhaps even better than the tools bigger dragons use for more delicate digs. Also, when you have magic at your disposal, you don't necessarily need to worry about getting dirty. Honestly though...he's such a pretty boy he probably has magic that cleans him up after a more gritty dig. Of my collection of this subspecies, Cirro is the one who sheds the most ambient light underground. He excels at illumination-variety spells and enchantments in general.
