These are very well made genes that work with a lot of terts, I'm definitely going to get at least one dragon with this combo.

These are very well made genes that work with a lot of terts, I'm definitely going to get at least one dragon with this combo.
I LOVE that they're toned down. They actually fix a gene problem I've been having with a fandragon haha! It's nice to have some texture without much *hue* or *value* change in the color.

They look a lot like girraffe and hex but less uniform. I like that. Ground/Hex on baby obs is especially adorable.

There is still a SIGNIFICANT difference between Giraffe and Ground, and it's in the colours. They may get a similar effect on some colours while on some it's near incomparable. And I would know because the majority of my lair uses Giraffe or Hex!! jfkjlkdg
No salt, just fellow advice to anyone who needs to hear it: when we compare things with each other, our enjoyment of them drops significantly. It's best to treat each one of these individually and for what they are. That's how and why I enjoy just about every item on this site. More additions can only be good in the most general sense, even if it's slight variety, it's still variety (duplicates not included)

Sometimes, it’s nice to have simple genes that keep the same colour. Happy with them :) also will be cool to see all the rock dragons made!

tbh i adore the fact that these are a bit simpler, it's nice to have some genes that have texture but not overwhelming accent colors again. i love accent colors a lot but it's good to have some of both

I think the line pattern would have made an awesome tert gene.
My only critique is that the "base" color doesn't contrast much with the lines, but that's just personal preference. I love the genes that have contrasting accent colors.
If we had a tert with that line pattern you could create some beautiful contrasts. It'd be like Crackle or Veined, but I prefer the line pattern of Ground/Fissure more.
I can't do mock-ups, but take this Oilslick dragon, and replace the darker lines with Grapefruit.
