My 73 year old husband is now hospitalized with pneumonia. I am 68 and traveling back and forth to visit him. We were planning to stay home before this. I get online to play Flight Rising to de-stress. When he does come home, we will stay here.

While I was posting this his physician called. Depending on his latest test results for other infections they may also be testing him for Corona virus.

Thanks, FR community for being there for me.

I have no idea what's happening here in the UK. The PM has decided to keep schools open for now but mass gatherings are getting banned? (Don't quote me on that - I'm getting tired of the panic and am not looking too much into it) Honestly, I'm not in too much of a panic. The virus seems to be dangerous to elderly people and those that have other health problems - I'm fairly young and the only health problems I really have are mental... I am concerned for my grandparents but, so long as everyone stays in and stays cautious of the virus then everything should be fine However, I am a little annoyed by everyone stockpiling like it's the end of the world - you only need a little in case you need to be quarantined, not months and months worth... And as someone who has extreme anxiety, I don't go out much anyways so staying away from people isn't much of a problem for me. I'm just trying to stay positive and continue on like normal I'm sending my love to those that are infected with the virus or have passed away ~ [emoji=heart size=1]

I live in NY (not metro area) there are a few cases in the next big city over. I'm not worried about the virus so much as I'm worried about all the people panicking. I work as a cashier at a grocery store and all the sudden Thursday night people started clearing out the shelves of ALL the nonperishable food as well as the more long lasting veggies.

Yesterday they implemented limits on things and it seems to be getting better. But there was no meat, no dairy, no pantry foods, it was a cleaned out store. It's scary. I hope if gets better soon.

For any one who is sick I hope you get better! It's not as bad as the media is making it out to be.

Also please don't hoard baby products please! I know several people who can't find diapers/formula.

i opted to stay home from school on thursday and friday because i honestly wasn’t feeling well, and we found out yesterday that our school would be closed for a week. this will be an opportunity to rest for once, so i’m not too upset

my family in china is fine, they’re getting a little antsy under quarantine but nobody’s sick. my grandpa is visiting his hometown atm. he left right before the travel ban in january and he was supposed to be back by the end of february. he’s not expected to be back until may and he misses the states terribly :( i’m worried for him

my immediate family is safe, but my mom nearly went to the er yesterday because she has this cough that won’t go away. we know that she doesn’t have it, but this situation is making everybody a little nervous

wishing everybody well!

We won't have to go to school from Monday in my country either, which is pretty annoying since I got a project that I wanted to work on :( It's not something that I could do online or bring home (it's a stained glass window lol) but I really need to finish it soon because I have to include it in my final exams... And I'm not even nearly close to finished yet.
Also I'm a little upset that we must stay at home, which is ironic since normally I don't really go anywhere lmao. It will be a bit stressful too because I don't get along too well with my family unfortunately.
I have other things I wanted to settle so this whole thing came at a really inconvenient time. Hopefully it won't last too long, I planned to move to the UK in September for uni :/

Tbh I'm more worried for my friends than myself lol. One of my friends got sick a few days ago, it's probably just a simple cold but I hope it won't be anything more serious than that, I mean we're young and relatively healthy after all.

i hope everybody is feeling well today. if it's ok to say, i love you all. this will get better eventually. we just have to hold on until then. take all of the necessary precautions, and take care of yourselves

MIDNIGHT LOOMING, TRAPPED BY DESPERATION TO REMAIN
I just got back from my local grocery store. There's literally only one brand of toilet paper, and it's a little pack of four. The store itself had a weird vibe to it, just knowing that some people there are just stockpiling stuff :T

There's even people from out of town coming to buy food where I live ;-;
For context, where I live, we're roughly 4 hours away from any major city. Usually it's US that go out of town to buy food and stuff.

Like others have said, I'm not too worried about myself, I'm more worried about the elderly and really young children and those with health issues.

I'm on spring break at the moment, but I did get an extra day off because of the coronavirus. And the stores have been insane. I went to go and buy some rubbing alcohol, and lookie here, it's all sold out. So was the hand sanitizer, and don't get me started on the toilet paper. I'm surprised I didn't see a brawl in the middle of the store over it.

I dont mind being pinged!
I am really sad about it. My school recently just got shut down for an indefinite amount of time. This means this might have been the last time I saw some of my friends (some of them are boarders who are going home), possibly no graduation, no prom, don't get to run my last track season, and anything else seniors traditionally get at the end of the year. I can only hope it gets better but idk how its looking. My support goes out to the others who are more affected[emoji=familiar heart size=1]

I've been affected pretty hardcore, actually. All my concerts have been cancelled, schools are closing down till April and my own family members are getting sick (Only my "step""father") and the rest of my family in my hometown are scared. I feel like everyone where I currently live is going insane when it's not actually that serious. unless you're really old or already badly sick. As for healthier, younger people, I wouldn't be worried.

I honestly can't predict how long it will last, I just know that people are going to be going crazy the whole time it's here and health specialists said it will take at least 1 year, minimum, to find a cure. (Then again, I'm not worried. I'm just more worried for my elder family, sick family etc. Also, my "stepfather" who has the flu. I don't want the flu at all, I'd rather get Coronavirus tbh.)

But I can agree with Fervor, It's really freakin' annoying how everyone is litterally hurting each other just for things that aren't that needed or serious. Just, look at it this way.:
A elder man is at serious risk of getting Coronavirus, so he quickly goes to the store to stock up on things he needs to stay home in order to not get coronavirus or to not spread it. But when he goes to get tissues, medications, etc. , It's all gone. Why? You ask. , Because healthy people who would survive anyways, are savaging it all like selfish animals.

It all sucks and I hope people just calm down and try to look at it for what it really is, not hype it up and make everyone else crazy from their own false fears. Of course, people are dying from it, and of course we need to acknowledge that. , but don't go insane over it. Look at the facts, who is dying, why and try your hardest to avoid it or not spread it. People just need to calm down, know about it and be aware of it and wait for the cure or for it to clear out.
