The choice was follow Emerald!
Swiftwing turned to look at the horizon where the rolling waves of the Sea would be, then back at the dry desert which led to the Canyon. Emerald was already gathering her supplies and walking off, so he rushed to catch up.
"Wait. I think I'll come with you instead," Swiftwing decided. "Since you said the Clan split up, maybe we will have better luck looking for more survivors and sticking together, right?"
Emerald gave a little smile and nodded. "Sure, just keep an eye out for any...enemies I guess. But I think the BeastClans might not be coming back here anytime soon, since they've defeated all the Clans here."
"All?" Swiftwing asked incredulously. His Clan was obviously not the strongest, but he could not imagine the two-hundred-dragon-strong Clans in the Tempest Spire being defeated.
"The BeastClans know most of us dragons are strong in Clans. Just disband the Clan and they've pretty much won everything, right?" Emerald answered, with a tinge of sadness.
With Emerald, Swiftwing travelled faster than he had when he was alone. By nightfall, they had pretty much almost reached the cliffs of the Canyon. Emerald stood up and looked over the tall shrubs to the foreboding Canyon ahead. Swiftwing did not detect any heat signatures within the rocks from such a distance.
"Well, it's nightfall. We've made good progress coming back today. Do you want to keep going?" Emerald asked Swiftwing. "Or continue when light returns?"
