TOPIC | Coliseum advice?
Hello lovelies!

This is a question for the fighting clans out there.
I am working on training up my dragons, but before I continue doing what I am doing (fighting a loooot in the training fields), does anyone have any advice on the fastest and most lucrative way of leveling up? Or any general advice on how to fight?
What stones are best for what purpose?

Also, can someone explain the terminology used in the guides? I don't really know what things like "Mage" and "Mire flyer" and "Ghostbuster" are!

Thanks in advance!

@ABreedApart Your problem is more likely to be that there are so many guides and some of them were written years ago before changes came into effect. I'll try not to be too overwhelming, but here goes: A Newbie's Basic Intro to Coli explaining some of the terminology, stats, and builds. It also suggests methods for training your dragons, including renting someone else's level 25 dragons to get your dragons started faster and various guides including at least one that I'm going to give you here separately. How to Train Your Dragon, the most popular and, to my knowledge, best venue-by-venue guide if you're training up three dragons by yourself. However. It is outdated (there are new enemies and new venues that have been added since it was last updated, and also the Coliseum underwent a huge revamp that made some of the information obsolete) and one of the critical battlestones is hard to find. It's still a valuable resource, but primarily for the information about the venues and how to deal with the enemies. It's just not as useful to follow step-by-step anymore because you'll be missing some, and once you get your dragons to 25, look elsewhere for information about builds. Culex builds still work, but they're no longer optimal now that some of the major bugs they had to compensate for have been fixed. Maki's Builds are hands-down the most optimized for New Coli™, so once you get to level 25 you might want to browse through there— or you can shop there first for information about what you want your dragons to eventually end up as before going back to training. Special notes for the Sedona Build, which is a slower build that doesn't rely on one of the more expensive stones, if you don't want to commit to that level of money spent until you know you'll enjoy Coli enough to make it back. Eliminate is no longer as expensive as it had been (it got up into 700-800kT back in the day) but may still seem far away for newer players who don't have a dedicated money-making strategy yet. Good luck, don't be afraid to ask people for help, and if you end up training three dragons from level 1-25 yourself, the Scorched Forest is a huge jerk to everybody so don't feel bad. @ABreedApart Welcome to Flight Rising! The coliseum does not reward evenly-statted dragons as you might have discovered. At this point unless you're highly attached to the dragons you've started leveling and you really want to level them up that you start with a new team. It would take about 25 minutes to level up another team yourself vs. 3 [item=tincture of dissolution] to reset their stats to a more efficient build. Whether or not you start over please check out these two guides for stat distribution: Culex's Guide for dragons with Eliminate. EeveeDream's Sedona Guide for dragons without Eliminate. Depending on whether or not Eliminates are in your budget these are the guides best suited for leveling up your dragons through the venues together. It's a slightly faster method than using a trainer (such as a double-fodder build) and training them in a higher venue. If you want to got the trainer route you can check out your flight's private forums for rental threads or Items for Sale for general rental threads. Once you've leveled up consider tincturing them again to a specialized build. Depending on if you want a general grind build or if you'd like a fodder trainer build Maki's build guide is a great reference. If you are starting over with new dragons give a thought to their elements. Some elements do better in the specialized builds than others so think about what you'd like your dragons to do once they're leveled. Hope this helps! edit: ninja'd!

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?

@ABreedApart - The two posts you got earlier are about as complete and comprehensive a set of information as you can get on the Coli. Do you have any specific questions that those guides/that info didn't answer?

Available at cost to Plague flight members.

Hiya! The names you've listed are types of builds, or recommended stats and battle stones, for a dragon.

Mage: Dragons that don't use Eliminate, but instead have high INT and use elemental battle stones like Disorient or Vile Bolt, and can heal with Aid or Regenerate battle stones.
Mire Flyer: A dragon that's normally used to train and level 2 dragons at a time in the Mire venue.
Ghostbuster: Same as the above, but the dragon is specified for training and leveling in the Ghostlight Ruins venue.

If you'd like to familiarize yourself with more Coliseum lingo, The Guide to FR Abbreviations can help you with that! It's a very to-the-point 'n easy to read guide, and you can check up on other Flight Rising lingo here too!

I'm sure all the info I'm looking for is in those guides, but it's so much information I get overwhelmed, haha. It was mainly the terminology that was getting me confused, but @Nesu has helped with that now!
My main questions are along the lines of which stats to level up for fighters and mages and then what stones are best to use.
Like, from what I've gathered, fighters should have their STR stats and QCK leveled up the most, and Mages should have their INT stats leveled up the most.
As far as stones, it has something to do with the individual dragon's abilities and element

Melee attackers should have STR and QCK. More STR is better than more QCK. If you have leftover points at level 25 after building your dragon, you can just toss them into VIT.

Mages should have INT and QCK, more INT is better than more QCK. They can also have leftovers tossed into VIT. However, if you're looking to do it quickly and efficiently, you shouldn't use mages. They're significantly slower than melee attackers.

Melee attackers should generally have scratch, two ambushes, three berserkers (you can use your dragons' flight-specific STR stones until you get to 17 to equip berserkers), a rally, an eliminate, and the remaining two are free spaces. I like to use contuse and sap in them for boss fights to lower the bosses' damage and get some health back, but this is personal preference. Some people prefer haste and sap. I've found haste doesn't do anything but slow me down with its animation.

For mages, you want meditate, two ambushes, three scholars (same with flight-specific INT stones until 17), and then... really whatever you want your mage to do. Since mages are so inferior to melee attackers in terms of efficiency, they're mostly just for fun. They mostly only have a use in Golem Workshop.

Element only matters for the flight-specific stones, which are largely obsolete by level 17 due to there being better stones for efficiency (berserkers, scholars, eliminate). The only one I can think of that is widely used is Disorient on wind-flight mages in Golem Workshop.

Anything else doesn't matter since you can always use a Tincture of Dissolution to reset the dragon's stats and overwrite its stones.

For any specific stats and stones, you'll want to look at build-specific guides. If you're building your first coli dragons, I'd recommend getting at least a Mire Flyer so you can train fodder and make money from exalting. You'll probably want that to be Rosalyn since she's Arcane element, which is the best for Mire.

If you want to be as fast and efficient as possible in leveling up your first dragons, check the Ice forums for the level 25 lending service. It'll make it way faster if you train them in a high level venue with a level 25 than if you trained them up by scratch. https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/fl6/1951621
