I went inactive for a while (again.) and missed the buzz around the new ancient breed, so Im kind of curious about what yall thought of it
The initial release was very mixed as a whole.
I personally love them :)

i think it was a pretty vocal minority that actively disliked them, tbh. i know it doesnt represent flight rising as a whole, but on tumblr i saw a poll that had mostly positive votes on it, so it was probably just a handful of people who didnt like them.
other people had beef w the fact it was 4 legs/2 wings/1 head like moderns, and that i can see, how this is basically something that couldve been a modern.
i do like them though. a lot. they're silly funny :}
i WILL be getting so many of them in the future (when all my current projects are done...)
edit: also i say vocal minority because i imagine while it seemed like a lot of people airing their grievances, i imagine a lot of the people who liked them weren't active in those threads that became popular. people are more than likely to post if they want to complain, i've found.

I was a little let down at first, I really loved a lot of players' art of what they thought/hoped we were getting so I was kinda hype for something more armadillo-y or isopod-like, but! Now, I like them a lot. :D I love the genes they started with (strike/coil my beloved) and I feel like they look like a critter that could exist, and that's fun for me.

i like them (earthie bias) but i understand why people were disappointed. it's frustrating that ancients were introduced with the idea that they don't have the same design constraints as moderns bc they don't wear apparel, isn't that cool? they can be anything.
and then most of them follow the same rules anyway, or bend them so gently, like aethers with their almost-completely-hidden extra set of limbs lol. (i like aethers too but i get it.) i think dusthides are nice but there is absolutely no reason they couldn't have been a modern. they didn't push the envelope at all, so a lot of people found them uninteresting and disappointing and i feel you guys.

I think they’re adorable! They are very friend-shaped imo :D
