Slate is becoming my least favorite color on here istg
I keep all my natural primals, which unfortunately includes one who has a slate secondary
I tried jellyfish on her and she doesn't look half bad with it:

Most of the pinks kill me every time. Violet is a hard one, but I've made it work in the past.
I find slate to be pretty in the right circumstances, but I respect your dislike of it XD

Greens in my plague dragons drive me up a wall. My custom progen of all dragons is cursed with a green tert. Still debating taking the plunge to scatter scroll him given how well his prim and sec match up.
Edit. Took the plunge and scattered him! Went from crimson/obsidian/jade to bronze/terracotta/maroon (after 2 scatters). Not half bad, though he'll likely need some regeneing now too, and his stupid tert is done plagueing (haha) me forever!

for me it's steel tert. i was scrying one of my birthday dragons and internally weeped. none of my scries are turning out right and im tempted to flat out scatter when i finally get around to gening him

I love Slate...but only sometimes. Things either work or don't work, but they always work and don't work for something.
But I'm not gonna lie that I really just don't like some colours on my dragons as they're a sore sight in my lair (aesthetics be like). Examples would be Cornflower, Periwinkle, Cobalt, Royal, Fuchsia, Magenta and the like.

for me, that color is fern. it's not ugly, but if it doesn't match then you're screwed because there is literally not a single gene that gives it accent colors that aren't green (with the exception of mosaic which brings out EXTREMELY SUBTLE accents of BRICK and FOG which isn't much better). poison? green. harlequin? green. skink? green. stitched, the KING of wacky accent colors? GREEN.
