can someone give me the basics of dom/how I can help? I love being involved in the community but dom is the one part (well, that and skins/accents) I haven't really gotten into, but I don't understand it much. How can I assist plague or nature during dom this week, and other flights after this week? tysm <3

Hello! The most direct way to help conquesting flights is to send dragons to their public buys and/or raffles. You get some of that sweet sweet dragon cash and badges, and they get dragons to exalt. Flights usually only host them when they are actively trying to get on the leaderboard, as it gets expensive fast. Alternatively you can participate in their events, which could involve sending dragons, items, and/or currency to help fund their dominance efforts.

@Wisdum I notice you're in Light, so hiya from your friendly local Light Dom member. To give you some Light specific resources. For a guide on how Dom works in general, check out [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/fl8/1949864]Dom 101.[/url] For more Light specific resources, you'll find a lot of that in [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/fd8/3198349]DomDom.[/url] We're on the tail-end of our annual Valightines push, so we'll have dominance this coming week while Plague and Nature battle it out. Like @/PricklySnoots said, to help flights that are not your own, you can often get involved via sending to public buys (PBs) or raffles. Flights will also often have themed events to go along with big conquest pushes. To help your own flight (Light my beloved [emoji=light rune size=1]), you can exalt during push weeks (we have a list of upcoming pushes with dates in DomDom that I linked), attend raffles or PBs where you accept dragons from Out-Of-Flighters to be exalted to the Lightweaver. In Light we also have things called suntans/sunburns where the Vault funds concentrated training efforts. During LvA, our sunburn ran all week, 24/7. You could also help by participating in illuminarti (our art for fodder program) if art is your skill, or receiving dragons for Illuminarti. Or you could host events to get peoples' eyes on Light's stuff! There's lots of ways to help and anyone can dom!

To add to what Val said- since you asked for a "basics of Dom" thing:
Dominance is basically "what flight can get the highest percentage of levels exalted to active users in a given week?", which usually translates to "can exalt the most" but is complicated by flights having different sizes. Light's a decently big flight active-population-wise (despite our raw World Map numbers putting us in the middle of the pack), for example, and Earth is a small flight!

Since dom has "how many levels" as a big factor, flights will run raffles/public buys to get other flights to send them leveled dragons. They tend to pay at least decently, too, though it can be smart to check against a payouts chart because sometimes the value you're getting is from direct payout, and sometimes it's from maybe winning a raffle prize and the payout isn't as much as you'd get on your own.

Going to reiterate a point though- Anyone can Dom. Like, even if you only exalt one dragon in a week? It's a dragon that wouldn't otherwise be counting towards Most Levels/Active Players! (People also generally buy dragons for this purpose, or use like, breeding project castoffs or dragons bred for the purpose. You're not expected to give up a beloved perma or anything!)
