I'm wondering, why is it? Like is there a reason why people pick it? Is purple really just a popular color or is it something else?

i think it has something to do with the colors, and a lot to do with some semblance of edginess, like ooh a dark flight so cool, same thing with plague having a strong icky edgy vibe! i say this as someone who had many friends in shadow flight as a middle schooler lol

please do not think that i am calling all shadow flight members edgy this is just my thoughts on why shadow is so large!

I think there's probably a lot of overlap between people who like dragons and people who like the idea of a shadow/darkness element. The trickster / morally grey element also plays into a lot of popular trends. See the popularity of characters like Loki, Joker and the Hazbin Hotel series. Arcane used to be the biggest back when stuff like Steven Universe and space leggings were at their peak. Plus pink and purple are popular colours.

As an ex-goopling, and ex-edgelord """"psychopath"""", yeah, it's the edge. Though to be fair I still think the whole black goop and blue glowing mushrooms is an absolutely sick (ha) aesthetic.

Personally, I like the background. It's very dark/nice on the eyes and I like to think of it like a knock-off dark mode for the lair/profile page

I also like the color purple.

As others say, I'm sure being 'edgy' has something to do with some (not all) users choosing it.
Lol I first started in Plague, the other 'edgy' flight and plan to go back eventually if only I could have that flight and purple eyes I'd be happy.
Am I edgy? Mmmm, I don't consider myself edgy even if my name suggests it :P


I also know a few threads in the past mentioned liking Shadow for the circus/traveling circus theme. It was usually mixed alongside the tricksters part of the Shadow flight lore
