@Shisa Oh, I know--my avatar girl here has a basic primary! Nothing else looked quite as good with her tert, and I love her with her tert. :D

Seriously, though, every single one of these looks better on its own...together they often start to muddy the very ouline of the dragon (I'm looking at you, Jupiter/Saturn), but with the plain opposite for contrast, they really pop!

@ciceqi Sometimes only Basic has the exact colors you want. That's the case with my custom progen: [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=21823479] [img]http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/218235/21823479_350.png[/img] [/url] Any other gene seems either too dark or too light, so Basic it is. Basic also pairs very well with Thylacine, so you made a good call! I prefer it on Iridescent myself.

Right, here's the list and my preferred gene of the pair (unless I think they're equal).


Bar/Daub: Bar

Cherub/Seraph: Cherub

Clown/Eye Spots: Eye Spots, clown is totally unbearable for me.

Crystal/Facet: Difficult to use in general but Facet is better than Crystal IMO.

Falcon/Peregrine: Peregrine, though Falcon looks nice enough, I've just never used it.

Giraffe/Hex: Giraffe (though only on colours with lighter accenting like rose, banana, robin, honeydew or sky), Hex can just look odd paired with other genes.

Iridescent/Shimmer: I like both but Shimmer on it's own has more uses.

Jaguar/Rosette: Jaguar all the way, no matter the colour.

Jupiter/Saturn: Equal. I don't really like them and they only halfway work when paired with each other.

Metallic/Alloy: Equal. They are as good together as they are apart though Alloy can work better than Metallic when paired with a treasure gene.

Petals/Butterfly: Butterfly

Piebald/Paint: Neither

Pinstripe/Trail: Too new to say.

Savannah/Safari: Savannah

Skink/Spinner: Skink

Speckle/Freckle: Freckle (good for a foliage effect on tree dragons).

Tapir/Striation: Striation

Tiger/Stripes: Tiger

Vipera/Hypnotic: Vipera

Wasp/Bee: Equal

Bar/Daub: Neither, although I prefer bar. The contrast is too low with most colors imo
Cherub/Seraph: Seraph! Too much going on with cherub for me
Clown/Eye Spots: Both are really hit or miss
Crystal/Facet: Neither, but i think Facet works best
Falcon/Peregrine: PEREGRINE!!!
Giraffe/Hex: Both
Iridescent/Shimmer: Both!!
Jaguar/Rosette: Both of them are my favorite genes all around lmao
Jupiter/Saturn: Neither.,..,least favorite genes tbh
Metallic/Alloy: Both
Petals/Butterfly: Butterfly! Perfect for wings
Piebald/Paint: BOTH!
Pinstripe/Trail: I like pinstripe a lot more than I thought I would!
Poison/Toxin: Toxin, I dont like the way poison is shaped on some dragons' bodies
Ripple/Current: Ripple
Savannah/Safari: Savannah by far, safari is,,,,, really boring sorry
Skink/Spinner: Skink
Speckle/Freckle: Neither, although speckle works better on certain breeds.
Tapir/Striation: Striation
Tiger/Stripes: Tiger
Vipera/Hypnotic: Depends? They both have their strong points
Wasp/Bee: Both

@Shisa Haha, yeah, but sunshine iri is just... *shudders* Basic is the only unpatterned shade of sunshine that looks like the color I intended, you're right on the money there!

@ciceqi Oh geez, that one is definitely one of the worst Iridescent colors. You'd have to work magic with apparel and accents to salvage it, and it's definitely not a look for everyone. Bar/Daub: both and none; I like the genes but always manage to find something better
Cherub/Seraph: none tbh; I don't like how bland Seraph looks and I don't like those out-of-place feathers on a dragons' back. They do give nice contrasts tho and Khenti will look fantastic with Seraph.
Clown/Eye Spots: I LOVE CLOWN
Crystal/Facet: none because it looks kind of unnatural, but they're not bad
Falcon/Peregrine: Peregrine is my favourite secondary gene. Falcon not so much, probably because it's not a secondary :^)
Giraffe/Hex: I like both
Iridescent/Shimmer: don't use them much because they're expensive, but I like both. Iridescent is a bit better imo
Jaguar/Rosette: JAGUAR ALWAYS, favourite primary
Jupiter/Saturn: none actually, they're a bit too cluttered
Metallic/Alloy: Alloy
Petals/Butterfly: Butterfly?
Piebald/Paint: they work only when together
Pinstripe/Trail: none, surprisingly I don't like them. Trail looks good on Coatls tho
Poison/Toxin: Poison
Ripple/Current: I love Ripple
Savannah/Safari: none. they are kind of underwhelming
Skink/Spinner: BOTH, I absolutely love those genes
Speckle/Freckle: both are fine
Tapir/Striation: Striation
Tiger/Stripes: depends on the dragon
Vipera/Hypnotic: I love both, but Vipera seems to serve me better
Wasp/Bee: Wasp actually
